There were no warning signs that Naomi's once-blissful marriage would leave her worried about divorce only four years later. Aaron Gabrielli was everything she wanted in a husband: adventurous, smart, witty, incredibly handsome, and responsible for the best sex of her life. But ever since the birth of their daughter and moving to Los Angeles to pursue his career as an entertainment attorney, their marriage has begun to fail. Aaron is drowning in work, trying to make partner at his firm. Naomi has been transformed into a stay-at-home mom in stretch pants. And forget about sex. It's been almost a year since that's happened. She's about to turn thirty, but feels like she's twice that. Then out of the blue, she hears from Jesse Pike, her childhood sweetheart. Their mothers are still best friends, but Naomi hasn't spoken to, or even thought about, Jesse in ages. When he invites her to spend Thanksgiving with him at his cabin in the Yukon wilderness, she is torn between her desire for adventure and what the risk might ultimately mean for her marriage.

Most eligible billionaire bachelor is looking for a wife . . . When my father locked down my trust fund until I found a wife, my brother thought it would be funny to add my profile to a new matchmaking app that caused me nothing but headaches and frustration. Romance gave me hives and I had every reason NOT to believe in love, but as a billionaire, and the city’s most eligible bachelor that every woman wanted, I’d now become the face of ForeverLuv. Yes, a frenzy ensued, and I had no time or patience for the insanity. Deleting my profile proved impossible, so I paid a visit to the woman who owned the business and demanded she remove me. I didn’t expect her to stand up to me and flat-out refuse . . . I was a man used to snapping his fingers and people jumping to obey, but this vixen didn’t budge—because I was the reason why her waning business was now thriving, and it wasn’t her fault that my idiot brother pulled the prank. So that’s when I struck a deal with the curvy, sexy matchmaker . . . find me a suitable, compatible wife in one week’s time so I could recover my trust fund, and I’d invest in her barely surviving software company. Fail to find me a bride to meet my standards, and she’d have to stand in as my back-up wife. I swore I’d never fall in love . . . but then again, I’d never met a woman like Felicity Wright. It only took me a string of disastrous dates to figure it out.

After developing epilepsy as an adult, Robert Dodge experienced increasingly dangerous seizures and was seen by specialists on five continents. His firsthand account of adapting to life with epilepsy begins with an overview of this often misunderstood neurological disorder--still attributed to demonic possession in some parts of the world--and recounts his struggle as his seizures became life-threatening. Dodge describes his treatments and their side effects, including four ineffective surgeries that removed an eighth of his brain, and the personal challenges of social stigma.

When the rabbis composed the Mishnah in the late second or early third century C.E., the Jerusalem Temple had been destroyed for more then a century. Why, then, do the Temple and its ritual feature so prominently in the Mishnah? Against the view that the rabbis were reacting directly to the destruction and asserting that nothing had changed, Naftali S. Cohn argues that the memory of the Temple served a political function for the rabbis in their own time. They described the Temple and its ritual in a unique way that helped to establish their authority within the context of Roman dominance. At the time the Mishnah was created, the rabbis were not the only ones talking extensively about the Temple: other Judaeans (including followers of Jesus), Christians, and even Roman emperors produced texts and other cultural artifacts centered on the Jerusalem Temple. Looking back at the procedures of Temple ritual, the rabbis created in the Mishnah a past and a Temple in their own image, which lent legitimacy to their claim to be the only authentic purveyors of Jewish tradition and the traditional Jewish way of life. Seizing on the Temple, they sought to establish and consolidate their own position of importance within the complex social and religious landscape of Jewish society in Roman Palestine.
