In India, Devotion to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary began in 1952 through the instrumentality of Father Louis M. Shouriah, S.J. He was miraculously cured from grave heart trouble by Our Lady. When he asked the Blessed Virgin Mary how he could best show his gratitude for this unsolicited favor, the response was, "Spread the Devotion to my Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart in your country." The Rev. Louis M. Shouriah adapted the writings of Rev. I. Duffner and added his own research and thoughts in this unique book on the Messages from the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Devotion to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, which also includes a short biography of His messenger, Berthe Petit. Jesus tells Berthe Petit, 'Recourse to my Mother under the title I wish for her universally, is the last help I shall give before the end of time.' Our Lady of the Nations is a detailed and scholarly overview of the apparitions of Mary in 20th-century Catholic Europe. Chris Maunder discusses apparitions in general and how they are interpreted in Catholicism by, for example, Karl Rahner and Benedict XVI. The role of women and children as visionaries is considered, including issues concerning changing views of gender, children's spirituality, and the protection of minors. He covers cases that are well known and approved by the Church (Fatima, Beauraing, Banneux, and Amsterdam), others that are well known but not approved (such as Garabandal and Medjugorje), and many that are neither well known nor approved, such as those in Belgian Flanders or Nazi Germany in the 1930s, or in France, Italy, or Germany after the Second World War. Resources include academic studies of particular apparitions, some Catholic theological and devotional literature, and occasionally travel writing. There is also coverage of material in French which is not known to the English reader. Shrines and visionaries are believed to be indicators of the presence of Mary. In the visionary perspective, she has appeared in order to reassure her followers and to warn of divine judgement. Her messages echo doctrinal Catholic Mariology with some innovations, but also express a deep dissatisfaction with the events and trends of the 20th century, from communism to Nazism to liberalism and religious indifference. While the Marian cult evolves according to new templates for apparitions and developments in Mariology, the fundamental message of presence, consolation, and admonition remains constant.

Best reference book on the Messages from the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary to Berthe Petit on the Devotion to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, along with a detailed biography of the messenger, Berthe Petit. Jesus states, "The hearts of men must be changed. This will only be realized through the devotion known, developed, preached and counseled everywhere... Recourse to my Mother under the title I wish for her universally, is the last help I shall give before the end of time... My Mother has acquired from her Heart the title of 'Sorrowful' by sharing generously in all the sufferings of My Heart and My Body from the crib to the cross...The title of 'Sorrowful' belongs therefore to the Heart of My Mother, and more than any other, this title is dear to Her because it springs from the union of her Heart with Mine in the redemption of humanity." Many black and white photographs. Imprimatur; Nihil Obstat.

Excerpt from All for Jesus, or the Easy Ways of Divine Love I venture to dedicate this little Book to you, for more reasons than one. I would have it stand as a memorial of my gratitude for all the affectionate intercourse which you have permitted to exist between the sons of St. Philip and yourselves; an intercourse which has been bound up with the dearest, because the most sacred, interests of your lives. For four years and more you have made our cause your own, and have rejoiced in our successes, and been anxious in our anxieties, as if they had been yours; while on our side, your griefs and cares, your sorrows and trials, you well know, have been taken upon our selves, according to the poor measure of our love, and lightened, so far as heart can lighten heart in Christ. Mary In Our Life: An Atlas of the Names and Titles of Mary, The Mother of Jesus, and Their Place in Marian Devotion presents the 1,969 names, titles, and appellations used to identify the Blessed Virgin Mary over the centuries in terms of their history and related events. Within these titles and their history can be seen the official and private attitudes and prejudices of the times; government pressures, conflicts, and interdictions; internal problems within the Catholic Church; and startling examples of dedication, devotion, and piety. Taken together, Marian titles are a real-life story of the Catholic faith.

Louis de Montfort presents some refreshing views on the Rosary and its power in this beautiful book. It contains spiritual reflections on the Rosary, its significance, how to pray it most effectively, and many narratives of miracles that worked for those who prayed it. The book attempts to deliver the message that Rosary is the most focused and preferred devotion to Mary, the mother of Jesus. It describes the historical and spiritual significance of the Holy Rosary and examines the meaning behind the prayers, Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. In addition, Montfort did a marvelous job providing helpful tips on avoiding distraction and faithfully praying the Rosary every day. This well-structured work is a concise, straightforward, yet inspiring read for anyone who wants to find their spiritual path. It consists of short sections called Roses. Each Rose discusses a different viewpoint about the Rosary and is somewhat addressed to a diverse group of the audience like priests or ordinary people. It's a perfect read for anyone who wants to know about the Rosary, whether for religious purpose or out of curiosity. Catholics worldwide have read the book for over two centuries, and it's still an excellent spiritual resource.
