Excerpt from Fifth Annual Report of the General Assembly's Committee on Freedmen, of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America: Presented May, 1870 Of the churches which changed their relation during the year, all were in Georgia, and grouped in one large field, composed Of three churches, - Union Point, Woodstock, and Pope's Chapel, and two outposts, - Athens and Thyatira. A colored missionary was engaged last spring, to occupy this field, then vacant. He failed to enter it at the appointed time. Diligent inquiry failed to find him; and in the meantime, the field lay vacant. During the past winter, Rev. Joseph williams, who formerly labored in this field, was authorized to visit it. He did so, and reported Woodstock gone to the Southern Presbyterian Church, Pope's Chapel to the Methodist Church, and Athens and Thyatira passed from control of the Committee, - Union Point alone remaining, needing and anxious for a preacher and teacher.
