The beautiful Anne of Green Gables Collection brings together the first three books from the enchanting Anne of Green Gables series. When eleven-year-old Anne Shirley is mistakenly sent to Green Gables Farm in place of the boy they requested, elderly brother and sister Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert decide to give the little girl a chance. Full of chatter and equipped with a vivid imagination, Anne makes steadfast friends and classroom enemies as she settles into her new life in Avonlea. First published between 1908 and 1915, the Anne of Green Gables books tell the fanciful tale of how a stubborn and wildly imaginative orphan whirls her way into the peaceful Avonlea community. Armed with a quick wit and fiery personality, it’s not long before Anne has to tackle life’s many challenges as she grows from a young girl into a charming young lady, in the first three volumes of this endearing coming of age story. With themes of friendship, nature, morality and ambition, the Anne of Green Gables series has been a well-loved staple in children’s literature for over a century. This collection from Read & Co. Books features the first three books in the Anne of Green Gables series, Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea and Anne of the Island, and also includes an introductory biography of the author, Lucy Maud Montgomery.

Anne of Green Gables Anne (with an e of course) starts out as a mistake. The elderly Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert had planned on adopting a boy to help Matthew with the chores on their Prince Edward Island farm. What are they to do with the red-haired, high-spirited girl who arrives instead? Anne of Avonlea It seemed only yesterday that the skinny, freckle-faced redhead had first come to the island. Now here is Anne, teaching at the Avonlea school, 16, pretty, and all grown up. Well, not quite grown up. In fact, Anne is not very different from her restless young pupils--mischievous and spirited as ever and headed for hilarious predicaments with a cranky new neighbor, a hungry Jersey cow, a parrot with an embarrassing vocabulary, and a truly dreadful mistake! Anne of the Island New adventures lie ahead as Anne Shirley packs her bags, waves good-bye to childhood, and heads for Redmond College. With old friend Prissy Grant waiting in the bustling city of Kingsport and frivolous new pal Philippa Gordon at her side, Anne tucks her memories of rural Avonlea away and discovers life on her own terms, filled with surprises . . . including a marriage proposal from the worst fellow imaginable, the sale of her very first story, and tragedy that teaches her a painful lesson.

Anne of Green Gables Premium Collection Vol 1 (4 Novels) Anne of Green Gables Anne, a young orphan from the fictional community of Bolingbroke, Nova Scotia (based upon the real community of New London), is sent to Prince Edward Island after a childhood spent in strangers' homes and orphanages. Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, siblings in their fifties and sixties, had decided to adopt a boy from the orphanage to help Matthew run their farm. They live at Green Gables, their Avonlea farmhouse on Prince Edward Island. Through a misunderstanding, the orphanage sends Anne Shirley. Anne of Avonlea, Following Anne of Green Gables (1908), the book covers the second chapter in the life of Anne Shirley. This book follows Anne from the age of 16 to 18, during the two years that she teaches at Avonlea school. It includes many of the characters from Anne of Green Gables, as well as new ones like Mr. Harrison, Miss Lavendar Lewis, Paul Irving, and the twins Dora and Davy. Anne of the Island, Anne leaves Green Gables and her work as a teacher in Avonlea to pursue her original dream (which she gave up in Anne of Green Gables) of taking further education at Redmond College in Nova Scotia. Gilbert Blythe and Charlie Sloane enroll as well, as does Anne's friend from Queen's Academy, Priscilla Grant. During her first week of school, Anne befriends Philippa Gordon, a beautiful girl whose frivolous ways charm her. Philippa (Phil for short) also happens to be from Anne's orphanage in Bolingbroke, Nova Scotia. Anne of Windy Poplars Anne of Windy Poplars takes place over the three years between Anne's graduation from Redmond College and her marriage to Gilbert Blythe. While Gilbert is in medical school, Anne takes a job as the principal of Summerside High School, where she also teaches. She lives in a large house called Windy Poplars with two elderly widows, Aunt Kate and Aunt Chatty, plus their housekeeper, Rebecca Dew, and their cat, Dusty Miller.

Anne of Green Gables. Fiction, History The best book of 19th century. Children's book. Here is the insight; MRS. Rachel Lynde lived just where the Avonlea main road dipped down into a little hollow, fringed with alders and ladies' eardrops and traversed by a brook that had its source away back in the woods of the old Cuthbert place; it was reputed to be an intricate, headlong brook in its earlier course through those woods, with dark secrets of pool and cascade; but by the time it reached Lynde's Hollow it was a quiet, well-conducted little stream, for not even a brook could run past Mrs. Rachel Lynde's door without due regard for decency and decorum; it probably was conscious that Mrs. Rachel was sitting at her window, keeping a sharp eye on everything that passed, from brooks and children up, and that if she noticed anything odd or out of place she would never rest until she had ferreted out the whys and wherefores thereof.....
