The Swedish Vallhund, sometimes referred to as the "Swedish Vallhund dog," is a small, lively breed of dog that originated from Sweden. The original purpose of these Swedish dogs was to herd cattle, hence their moniker "herding dog" (or "Vallhund"). Swedish Vallhunds, like dogs of other breeds, are susceptible to certain health concerns, such as hip dysplasia and eye difficulties. The health of these animals depends on responsible breeding and frequent veterinarian care. When given the opportunity for the exercise and mental stimulation they require, Swedish Vallhunds can be wonderful companions despite their relative obscurity as a breed of dog. The herding lifestyle has instilled in them a love of mental and physical challenges.
