This is the complete report of 69 land-grant institutions for the year which ended June 30th, 1947. Too few of the institutions had sent reports by October 15th to make it possible, as has been the practice in previous years, to prepare a preliminary report for distribution at the November meeting of the Association of Land-Grant Colleges and Universities. (Contains 17 tables and 2 footnotes.) [This bulletin was prepared under the direction of Emery M. Foster and in consultation with Lloyd E. Blauch. Best copy available has been provided.].

This is the final annual report of the 69 land-grant institutions for the year ended June 30, 1950. The institutions here reported are called land-grant colleges and universities because public land were grated to the States for their establishment or support. Some highlighted findings include: (1) Staff--There was an increase of 5.1 percent in the total number of full-time staff members in institutions for "white" students, and a 10.3 percent increase in staff in institutions for Negroes; (2) Students--The 1949-50 total enrollment of all students in the regular session in the institutions for white students shows a decrease under 1948-49 of 2.9 percent, while in the 17 institutions for Negroes, the decrease was 1.2%; (3) Degrees--The total number of degrees conferred in all fields increased above 1948-49, with the exception of women's bachelor's and first professional degrees, in which there was a decrease of 4.9 percent; (4) Income--In the 52 white institutions the total educational and general income for 1949-50 increased 6.5 percent over the income for 1948-49; (5) Expenditures--Total expenditures for educational and general expenses in the 52 white institutions increased 6.5 percent over the previous year, while total expenditures in the 17 institutions for Negroes increased 11.7 percent; and (6) Federal Funds--The total amount received from Federal funds decreased more than 13 million dollars from 1948-49, a decrease of 7.7 percent which is largely accounted for by the decrease in funds from the Veterans' Administration for student fees. (Contains 20 tables and 1 footnote.) [Prepared in consultation with Frederick J. Kelly. Best copy available has been provided.].
