"She had begun by dreaming simply of a face. Its expression was frightening because it was frightened. The face belonged to a man who was sitting hunched up in one corner of a little square room with white-washed walls - waiting, she thought, for those who had him in their power to come in and do something horrible to him. At last the door was opened...She could not make out what the visitor was proposing to him, but she did discover that the prisoner was under sentence of death. Whatever the visitor was offering him was something that frightened him more than that. The visitor, still smiling his cold smile, unscrewed the prisoner's head and took it away. Then all became confused." "The third novel in C.S. Lewis's classic sci-fi trilogy begins with Jane Studdock's horrific nightmare. The next morning she sees the same face in a newspaper - a brilliant French scientist guillotined for poisoning his wife. Jane has the growing feeling that she is being warned of something real and sinister. Her husband, Mark, meanwhile, is drawn into the National Institute for Co-ordinated Experiments, which is engaged in a plan to control human life."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Download How Do I Feel? Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
(PAPERBACK VERSION) Finalist in the New Zealand Children & Young Adults Books Awards 2022 Storylines Notable Books 2021 - Non-Fiction Winner #1 NZ Bestseller With 60+ definitions to help improve emotional literacy, How Do I Feel?, is all about helping our children learn to recognise and label emotions and feelings. Join Aroha and her friends as they share how different emotions might feel in the body and how each emotion might be helpful. This emotions dictionary is all about helping children find the words for how they truly feel. Learning to recognise and label our emotions correctly is such an important skill for life. Giving our children this language helps to build emotional literacy. It is a gift to give children the tools to know how to recognise what they truly feel and that is it okay to feel all emotions. When they know that no emotion is 'good' or 'bad' and that all emotions provide messages, then it takes away any attachment to that emotion being part of who they are. We may have experienced this ourselves being labelled 'naughty' or 'out of control' due to feeling angry a lot. However, this behaviour is just a way for a child to communicate. Diving deeper into why they are acting that way, why they may be feeling the things they are, can help us find some answers with our child. It can also help us find ways to help them empower themselves with tools to feel better. Use this book to start conversations about different emotions. If you can, give examples of things you have experienced. When you see a child experiencing an emotion, help your child label it. "Are you feeling ... right now?" This book can be used with children from 5 years of age up to 100+ as everyone might get something from the book. There are over 200 emotions and so we couldn't include them all in just one book, however, this book is the most extensive book about emotions for children. Paperback - full colour Pages - 142 Size - 216mm x 280mm (Landscape) Recommended Age - 5 years - 100 years+

Download Studies in Semitic Vocalisation and Reading Traditions Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This volume brings together papers relating to the pronunciation of Semitic languages and the representation of their pronunciation in written form. The papers focus on sources representative of a period that stretches from late antiquity until the Middle Ages. A large proportion of them concern reading traditions of Biblical Hebrew, especially the vocalisation notation systems used to represent them. Also discussed are orthography and the written representation of prosody. Beyond Biblical Hebrew, there are studies concerning Punic, Biblical Aramaic, Syriac, and Arabic, as well as post-biblical traditions of Hebrew such as piyyuṭ and medieval Hebrew poetry. There were many parallels and interactions between these various language traditions and the volume demonstrates that important insights can be gained from such a wide range of perspectives across different historical periods.
