Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]. Proverbs 18:21 (AMP) Biblical Declarations call God to His promises. Speaking the scriptures renew our minds in Christ by transforming and conforming us to the image of Christ. Christ only said what the Father said. We too should say what the Father says! And we will get what we say. Job 22:28(KJV) Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways. The direction of our lives is set by what we say. James 3:4-5 (MSG) "A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets a course in the face of the strongest winds. 5 A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything-or destroy it! It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire." The strongest winds are storm winds. We think of the storms in life as the problems. People blame the storms/problems in their lives for the course or outcome of their lives, but it's not the strongest winds that direct our lives. It is our rudder or tongue that directs our lives! Weather we become shipwrecked on the rocky shores of life or glide peacefully into calm harbor; depends on how skillfully we manage our rudder or tongue. Like a small spark can destroy a huge forest. We too can destroy the people around us by the words we say! The Bible gives examples of what to do and not do in times of trouble or storms. We can either praise God or complain. Complaining glorifies the problem which glorifies the author of the problem. God is not the author of confusion but of peace...according to1 Corinthians 14:33. Jesus after fasting for forty days and nights was weakened but when tempted used the scriptures to overcome and so should we as well. Genesis 1:28 declares that God gave us dominion over everything. We take or give away our authority over everything in our lives by what we say. Proverbs 19:21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue..."Our tongues are powerful. 2 Corinthians 6:7 states "For we walk by faith, not by sight (appearance)." We can speak God's promises in faith to the glory of God, or speak about our negative situations thereby glorifying (Satan) the author of the situation. Our words can be used as a weapon. "The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" Ephesians 5:17 By Speaking God's promises these scriptures are put into first person declaration form as to help you to speak blessing over the problem areas of your life. The more one speaks these declarations the more one internalize God's promises! Speaking God's promises over our lives is the foundation for successful living. Proverbs 6:2 New International Version "You have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth. In other words "What you talk about you bring about!" Jesus said this way in Luke 6:45 "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth (or brings to pass) that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth (or brings to pass) that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh."

GROUP PARTICIPANT WORKBOOK - Imagine waking up every single day convinced that the twenty-four hours ahead of you are a precious gift to be used wisely. Now imagine that you know exactly how to spend them to be a force for God’s good. All too often we wander through life without appreciating the gift of every moment we’ve been given. The result? An unsatisfying life, missed opportunities to experience the joy of being in sync with God, and days marked with apathy instead of passion. Our time on earth is measured. We should want to make every moment count—not only because we aren’t guaranteed the next one, but also because this is exactly how our Savior spent His time here. How, then, do we walk out unwavering joy-filled faith every day, determined to let go of the things that keep us from experiencing abundant life and fulfilling the plans God has for us? The answers are found in following the footsteps of the One who lived fully, because He was determined that we might do the same. In this six-week study of Luke, we will follow the life and ministry of Jesus as we consider the choices He made on His way to the cross. We’ll intimately connect with a Savior who remained laser-focused on His mission to love the world. In return, we’ll receive a model for intentional living that we can replicate to ensure we are living each day to the fullest and making a difference for God’s kingdom. And together we’ll determine to embrace the abundant life we are promised in Jesus. It’s time to stop wandering and start living!

Profound reflections on the cross that help you to meditate on and marvel at the sacrificial love of Jesus. This book can be used as a devotional, especially during Lent and Easter. These profound reflections on the cross from David Mathis, author of The Christmas We Didn’t Expect, will help you to meditate on and marvel at Jesus’ life, sacrificial death, and spectacular resurrection-enabling you to treasure anew who Jesus is and what he has done. Many of us are so familiar with the Easter story that it becomes easy to miss subtle details and difficult to really enjoy its meaning. This book will help you to pause and marvel at Jesus, whose now-glorified wounds are a sign of his unfailing love and the decisive victory that he has won: “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) This book can be used as a devotional. The chapters on Holy Week make it especially helpful during the Lent season and at Easter.
