By the injection of hormones and other agents which have been reported to influence scar formation, attempts were made to interfere with normal wound healing after the production of moderate second degree burns in pigs. It was hoped that some information on the development or prevention of hypertrophic scars and keloids might be gained from this experiment. Systemic administration of Doca, cortisone, and toluidine blue, and local injection of cortisone, histamine, and hyaluronidase neither delayed healing nor altered significantly the histologic processes involved in the restoration of dermal tissues.
