This study explores how to embed open science principles of collaboration, inclusivity, and transparency into creating digital supply chain coordination hubs. The author utilizes LinkedIn - network to combine qualitative case study with action research. Three universities, one university consortium, and five companies have been interviewed. Collaboration platforms are in place but research initiatives are not inclusive or transparent. Politics limits and overrules the application of open science principles. Academic digital libraries are quality tools for interactive learning and teaching. Inter-governmental organizations should take a more prominent role in facilitating academic library experiments to implement smart supply chain solutions.

Focusing on the supply chains food, fuel, water, pharmaceutical, and medical supplies, the recommendations of this report will assist the Federal Emergency Management Agency as well as state and local officials, private sector decision makers, civic leaders, and others who can help ensure that supply chains remain robust and resilient in the face of natural disasters.
