Life in ancient times was a struggle for survival, many times removed from the relaxed, comfortable existence most of us enjoy today. For women especially, simply living often meant enduring a harsh society that viewed women as voiceless entities more like property than persons. Still, faith blossomed and thrived. Explore the bold, yet inspirational lives of Old Testament women such as Hannah, Hagar, Abigail, and others. This 6-week video study is the fourth in the Sisters Bible Study series and is presented as a kit that includes: video presentations in both DVD and VHS formats (each session is 15-minutes in length), a participant 's workbook, and a leader 's guide. The DVD contains the same material as the VHS, offering users flexibility in viewing the study. The kit is packaged in a vinyl case for ease of use and storage. Each study group member will need to purchase a participant 's workbook separately. The format of each study session is: -A session introduction by the series host with a 7-8 minute presentation of the session material to the group by the study presenter, a small group discussion (i.e., 4-6 women) facilitated by the study presenter after viewing the video, and the remaining 60-90 minutes spent discussing the session material. Be sure to always include a time of prayer when you get together with your sisters. In this way, you are inviting Jesus into the group and building unity. These studies are designed to help you grow deeper in your relationship with Jesus Christ, using different areas such as confidence, self-esteem, faith, grace, and friendship with your sisters in Christ. My hope and prayer is that you use this book of studies to draw closer to the One who redeemed you to walk in victory. And that you dont just know Him in your head, but in your heart as well. Every woman in the pew has a story of God's faithfulness, and women love nothing better than to revel in one another's experiences and celebrate the sisterhood of believers. Pew Sisters helps get that celebration started. Devotional in both tone and form, this twelve-session study tells what God is doing in the lives of real women today. From depression to grief to cancer, women from all over the Church share their stories here for the consolation and encouragement of their sisters in faith. We are all one in the Body of Christ, so these beautiful women are your pew sisters. Their joys are your joys, and their sorrows are your sorrows. They share the same faith as you, eat at the same table as you, and inherit the same paradise as you. Join them in the pages of this study and in your own small group. Book jacket.

Raised in poverty on an Iowa farm, the Cherry Sisters had little education and no training. But they possessed a burning desire to take to the stage and show the world what they could do--and what they could do was awful. Their unique act was "so bad it was good." When the sisters took the stage, they were met with rotten fruit and vegetables, festering meat, dead cats... Riots often broke out after (and sometimes during) their concerts, but they carried on, changing attitudes--and laws--along the way. This book follows the five women through their forty-year career in vaudeville theaters across the U.S. Proud, fearless and fiercely independent in a time when women were treated as second-class citizens, the Cherry Sisters insisted that their voices be heard.

Part 1 The blood symbolism is traced from Genesis to The Cross. After Eve became the first sinner, she then tempted her husband Adam to sin also. God killed animals and gave the couple the animal skins to cover their bodies. Symbolically the animals blood pointed to Jesus shedding his blood in His death to cover the sins of all mankind. Chapters include research connecting that blood in childbirth, blood in the first Passover, blood in the menstrual cycle all are symbols pointing to the blood of Jesus shed on the cross. Gods people are commanded not to eat blood. A survey was made of the countries that use animal blood in preparing food. Also, an investigation was made into the way animals are killed in the USA, and how their blood was drained from their carcasses, making meat comply with Gods law. Bible women Rahab and Tamar are studied and their connection with the symbolism of the redeeming blood of Jesus. Christians take communion symbolically remembering Jesus shed His blood for our sins today. Part 2 Short life stories of women whose lives inspire us and who help make this world a better place.
