In the beginning of the year 2020, humans were unexpectedly attacked by one of the most contagious viruses, SARS-CoV-2, which causes the COVID-19. Even though there were similar corona viruses before (such as MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV), this one surprised the health authorities by how fast it was able to spread among humans. A COVID-19 patient may not show symptoms until the 14th day after the infections and become a virus carrier during this period. Robots can help in fighting this pandemic, as well as other similar health threats. Their physical presence in key areas may break the chain of transmission (human-to-human), and consequently reduce the chances of infection. In this thesis, a robot is designed to provide early identification of infection. This robot measures two key symptoms, olfactory dysfunction and fever. An objective technique is used to check the sense of smell, which differentiates COVID-19 from flu. Such approach was used because it provides higher reliability and more accurate results than the common self-report methods. Along with those objective measurements, a friendly interface is designed to create smooth dialogue to extract other subjective symptoms. After combining the relevant information, the designed robot was able to determine the likelihood of having COVID-19 for each suspected individual.
