Putting the peaces together is about showing how God will help you get over your hurts, disappointments, and discouragements and move on with your life. It tells how to discover the marvelous possibilities God has put in each person to enable them to make their dreams come true. The greatness each person has is disguised like the beauty of a butterfly in the cocoon of a caterpillar, which cannot be seen until the butterfly struggles to get free. Then the greatness is revealed to all that you are a winner.

Thanks to learning science and to the creativity of teaching and learning professionals, we know much more about the ways students learn experientially and collaboratively. For our courses, teaching scholars have identified practices and pedagogies that engage students to collaborate and experience deeper learning. Ken Bain has called Super Courses the courses that possess opportunities for learning in the classroom, the lab, and into the world where experiential learning joins course content. The course practices and pedagogies so fundamental to deep learning should also be included in program design (both for academics and campus life) and even the curriculum itself. Putting it all Together provides a frame that includes the pedagogies and practices and discussion of the larger contexts within which they can be applied. The book also offers more than thirty brief chapters of selected practices applied in individual contexts. The authors are faculty members, administrators, and staff professionals who have developed learning experiences for students. The rationale behind the book is simple: embedding the most powerful practices and pedagogies within courses, programs, and the curriculum calls for every professional at every institution to play a different but equally important role in improving student learning and student success.

Marcie was desperate to find out what was wrong with her. The constant depression with antidepressants and tranquilizers since the age of twelve; too many suicide attempts to count; migraines that caused her to hit her head against the wall; lost time she could not remember; and numerous psychiatrists, but no answers. There had to be an answer. Almost by accident she starts seeing a Christian psychologist who wants to find the answer too. Her feeling of losing control; her rapid mood swings; her nightmares about a closet door; these all led to an unexpected discovery. A poem she wrote in therapy led them to believe that her inner child was hiding in a closet. But why? A dream revealed a closet full of children that she was hiding. Twenty-seven of them to be exact. Who were they? What did this mean? More therapy revealed that they were all parts of her. Alternate personalities that had lived through: the sexual abuse as a child by her father and others, the rejection by her mother, who blamed her - a three year old; the horrifying rituals of a satanic cult; the torture she endured from them; the rapes, even by a religious clergyman. It all spelled out Multiple Personality Disorder. She had dissociated and alters were created to live through the horror and terror of her childhood. She would have to relive these memories that they had been keeping. Only through the help of God, and the caring therapists, was she able to live through the eleven years of therapy. Interesting and suspenseful as the discoveries are made and inspirational as God puts the pieces back together to make one whole person.

Tom Holladay experienced a catastrophe first-hand when a sudden flood in California destroyed his home, his church, and the homes of many church members. Tom and his congregation had to rebuild, and they used the principles in the book of Nehemiah to get back on their feet. Now a teaching pastor at Saddleback Church, Tom will help you discover seven principles for putting it together again that will give you the direction you need to get rolling on that fresh start. Holladay will walk you through seeing every problem as an opportunity, facing the obstacles head on and taking your first step, knowing how to expect and reject opposition, build on your success, and dedicating yourself to the One who rebuilds our souls. The task of starting again can seem impossible. And sometimes you just need to rebuild your confidence and regain a sense of purpose. If you’re trying to find the emotional energy, but you just don’t have it in you, let Holladay encourage you. He understands how difficult and rewarding the business of rebuilding is. This book is your encouraging how-to guide to starting again and stepping into a better future.
