Excerpt from Secretary's Fifth Report While including obituaries of men on the active list who have died since the last report, I have not repeated the names of those whose notices appear in earlier reports. I have taken little cognizance of such ponderous matters as higher or honorary degrees, clubs, learned societies, books published, public positions held, and the like, reserving them for the more detailed and official pages of the Sixth Report. The present volume is intended chiefly as an informal and personal recital of such things as men care to talk about, from the men who care to talk about such things.
