A good velvety lawn can be secured easily and quickly from the seed if the ground is in good condition and good seed is used. It should be sowed very early in the spring, very thick, about a quart to the square rod. Cover lightly by raking it in and if the weather turns dry keep well sprinkled till the grass gets a good foothold. I make a mixture of the best grasses for the purpose in a proportion that will keep a good stand of grass all through the summer. The basis of the mixture is the best grade of bluegrass, but I have added several other sorts that help it out immensely. As the most call is for about enough to seed a front yard, I pack it mainly in four quart bags, but can give you any quantity you want.
