p>Searching for Heroes in Life takes the recollections of its author, Charles Brookins Taylor Sr., who narrates his lifelong search for heroes, and turns these accounts into an inspiring witness that encourages others to search for the heroes who populate their own lives. Through this combination of reminiscence and guidance, Searching for Heroes in Life shows how one may look at the ordinary people who cross ones path and see in them the special qualities that make them heroic. Searching for Heroes in Life draws upon Abraham Maslows famous Hierarchy of Needsphysiological, security, social, esteem, and self-actualizationas a tool for understanding humanitys deep need for heroes. In particular, he shows how the need for self-actualization includes a need for spiritual self-actualization, which is where real-life heroes may make their special contributions to ones well-being. Then the search for heroes, illustrated with accounts from the authors life, culminates in an exploration of the person and work of Jesus Christ, who is both Hero and Savior of all who believe. In a world that so often seems to grow grey and dim under the weight of trouble and discord, you may find yourself wondering what has become of the good and noble people worthy of respect and admiration. Searching for Heroes in Life will help you to see clearly that heroes who can guide and inspire are living all around you and that Jesus Christ desires to come into your life as the ultimate Hero and Savior.

In Searching for Heroes in Life, Vol. 2: What the Coronavirus Pandemic Tells Us about Heroes, author Charles Brookins Taylor Sr. delves into the far-reaching impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having throughout America, and worldwide, and how it affects every aspect of life. Through the combination of observing and dialoguing with heroes from a broad sector of society, he shows how the pandemic highlights these heroes like never before. Taylor draws upon Abraham Maslow’s famous Hierarchy of Needs—physiological, security, social, esteem, and self-actualization—as a tool for understanding the deep desire for heroes who help meet our needs and remind us we’re not alone. In addition, he shows how the want for self-actualization includes a need for spiritual self-actualization, which helps us understand how the spiritual realm transcends the physical realm yet permeates and operate within it. During the coronavirus pandemic, a time when many are experiencing pain, distress, and hardship, causing them to feel hopeless, Searching for Heroes in Life, Vol. 2 encourages us to believe God is ultimately in control and wants us to know all things, the good and bad, work together for the good of those who love him.

As she wades into tide pools, spots hawks, and scours mountains, she discovers the power of the heroic volunteers who are helping scientists measure—and even slow—today’s unprecedented mass extinction. Citizen science may be the future of large-scale field research—and “might be our last, best hope for solving myriad environmental predicaments” (Library Journal). our planet’s last, best hope. “Inspired by the likes of marine biologist Ed Ricketts, [Hannibal] records starfish die-offs, meets the geeks who track deforestation, and plans a web-based supercommunity of citizen scientists to counter what many are calling the sixth great extinction. Without it, many dyslexics struggle and fail. Some, however, go on to achieve wild success. How? In this true story, dyslexic high school student Aidan Colvin decides to ask them. Over the course of one year, he writes 100 letters to successful dyslexics. He doesn't expect anyone to write back, and is genuinely surprised when people do. This book features letters from Writer John Irving, Arctic Explorer Ann Bancroft, Surgeon and CEO Delos Cosgrove, Sculptor Thomas Sayre, Poet Phillip Schultz and others. In 1990, I became a Special Features writer and photographer for the Coronado Eagle & Journal newspaper in San Diego. I wrote articles about local heroes who were making a positive difference in our local community. In 1991, I created the In Search Of Heroes program to encourage high school journalism students to ask local individuals a series of questions about heroes and heroism. The goal was to inspire young people to research the concept of heroism, so they could write educational articles to inspire other students and the community. We worked with the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Coronado CableVision and the high school principal and journalism and multi-media teachers. We even went in search of heroes at the San Diego Comic Con.In 2002, I created the In Search of Heroes website to publish articles and videos about my research on heroism and heroes. I started going to Internet marketing seminars to interview entrepreneurs that acted heroically at these amazing events. After 40 years of trying to be a hero to others, I realized the best way to honor the HEROES in my life was to write exciting, emotionally engaging stories about how they impacted my own personal hero's journey. To honor the HEROES in your life, why not write stories about the people who made a big difference in yours. Share how they inspired you to be a better person, helped you overcome a difficult problem or encouraged you to accept the responsibility for your own decisions. Your stories will give them the recognition they deserve and inspire future generations. To help you understand the different parts of your own hero's journey, I compiled the most useful information available from the HEROES Journey thought leaders. I created simplified outlines from their books: Joseph Campbell, The Hero With A Thousand Faces, Christopher Vogler, The Writers Journey, Maureen Murdock, The Heroine's Journey and Carol Pearson, Awakening The Heroes Within. After reading these books twice and studying them in-depth, I chose Carol Pearson's book, Awakening The Heroes Within as the foundation for my In Search Of HEROES coaching program. It provides a simple, comprehensive system that makes it easy for you to understand your own hero's journey.Heroism is easier to comprehend when you analyze your life in light of the 12 roles everyone has the opportunity to experience: Innocent, Orphan, Warrior, Caregiver, Seeker, Lover, Destroyer, Creator, Ruler, Magician, Sage and Fool. You can easily identify the roles you have already experienced; the next one you want to complete and the roles of the people who have impacted your life in positive and negative ways. The search for HEROES makes sense when you look at your life from the perspective of your own hero's journey. You will discover there are many unexpected HEROES and mentors. They helped you break free from the situations and thought processes that blocked your growth as a person. Their interaction with you, allowed you to become the person you were created to be, so you could complete your unique mission here on earth. By writing stories about them and their impact on your life journey, you pass on to future generations the wisdom you have gained through the trials, tribulations and joys of your life. This book is based on the transcript of the interview of Ralph Zuranski by Sharif Khan, the author of the book the Hero's Soul. The conversational format allows you the opportunity to experience the truth of the moment. When people speak about their life in response to probing questions, you know their answers come directly from their heart. The easiest way to share the stories of the HEROES in your life is to use the simplified HEROES journey story outline. All the great authors and screenwriters throughout history have followed the same pattern. Here are the ten basic parts of the HEROES journey.

What makes an honourable man and who are the heroes of our time? Five in-depth stories of seven remarkable men allow us to explore the concept of hero. Mythical heroes went on dangerous adventures fighting legendary battles and monsters. Modern heroes face frontiers of a different kind. The seven men who tell their story in In Search of Heroes shine with spirit and passion. They are men of integrity and contributors to their community. Their inner and outer journeys both reflect and inspire our own. 'There's something that the individual carries which is vital, which the corporation does not carry, the nation does not carry, something vital to the knowing of ourselves and to our survival.' - MICHAEL LEUNIG, CARTOONIST 'What fire fighting has taught me is that adrenalin does different things to different people - it can put you on the right tram or the wrong tram, and if you haven't got control of it, you're going to get on the wrong tram.' - BILL JONES, ONE OF THREE FIREFIGHTERS 'Most of the time I'm an easy-going bloke. I like a bit of fun if you really come to know me... But if I can't get out of an argument, if you can't run any further, well, you have to take a stand.' - KAJAI FRANK SEBASTIAN, KIMBERLEY LAND COUNCIL.
