The authors search for b → s??− transitions in B meson (B+, B°, or B{sub s}°) decays with 924 pb−1 of p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. They find excesses with significances of 4.5, 2.9, and 2.4 standard deviations in the B+ →?+?−K+, B° →?+?−K*(892)°, and B{sub s}° →?+?−? decay modes, respectively. Using B → J/?h (h - K+, K*(892)°,?) decays as normalization channels, they report branching fractions for the previously observed B+ and B° decays as normalization channels, they report branching fractions for the previously observed B+ and B° decays,?(B+ →?+?−K+) = (0.59 ± 0.15 ± 0.04) x 10−6, and?(B° →?+?−K*(892)°) = (0.81 ± 0.30 ± 0.10) x 10−6, where the first uncertainty is statistical, and the second is systematic. These measurements are consistent with the world average results, and are competitive with the best available measurements. They set an upper limit on the relative branching fraction?(B{sub s}°→?+?−?)/?(B{sub s}°→J/??)

The authors present a search for the flavor-changing neutral current decay B{sub s}° →???− using about 0.45 fb−1 of data collected in p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. They find an upper limit on the branching ratio of this decay normalized to B{sub s}° → J/?? of?(B{sub s}° →??+?−)/?(B{sub s}° → J/??)

We present results and prospects for searches for rare B and D meson decays with final state dimuons, including B{sub s}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -}, B{sub d}{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -}, and D{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -}. B0 Upper limits on the branching fractions are compared to previous CDF measurements, recent results from the B factories and theoretical expectations. We also report on new measurements of production and decay properties of the X(3872) particle, discovered in 2003 by the Belle Collaboration. New results on the measurement of the relative branching fraction for the Cabibbo suppressed decay B{sup +} {yields} J/{psi}{pi}{sup +} {Beta}(B{sup +} {yields} J/{psi}{pi}{sup +})/{Beta}(B{sup +} {yields} J/{psi}K{sup +}) are presented too. The presented results are based on the analyses of 70 to 220 pb{sup -1} of data collected by the CDF II detector in p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 GeV at Fermilab Tevatron.

We report recent results on rare B decays searches -- specifically, the decay modes B[sup 0][yields][mu][sup+][mu][sup[minus]], B[sup 0][yields][mu][sup+][mu][sup[minus]]K[sup 0*], and B[sup[plus-minus]][yields][mu][sup+][mu][sup[minus]]K[sup[plus-minus]] -- from the CDF collaboration using data from the 1992--1993 run of the Tevatron collider. In addition, we present the first CDF measurement of time dependent B[sup 0][minus][bar B][sup 0] mixing.

The high cross-section for the production of b quarks at the Tevatron hadron collider make it an ideal place to search for rare B meson species and very low branching fraction decay modes of the more common B mesons. This paper reports the recent discovery of the Bc meson by the CDF collaboration. It also discusses the observation of rare B meson final states involving [psi](2S) mesons and searches for ultra-rare decays such as B [yields] [mu][sup +][mu][sup -].

This thesis presents a search for the rare B meson decay B -> pi ll− (l=e or mu) using 428 fb−1 of data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance by the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy ee− storage rings located located at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park, California. Four exclusive modes are studied: B+ -> pi+ e+e−, B+ -> pi+ mu+mu−, B0 -> pi0 e+e−, and B0 -> pi0 mu+mu−. Branching fraction upper limits at the 90% confidence level are presented for the exclusive modes B+ -> pi+ mu+mu− and B0 -> pi0 mu+mu−, and the combined mode B -> pi mu+mu−.
