We present results on a search for Gauge Mediated Supersymmetry in the di-photon final state using Run II data collected by the D0 Experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We discuss event selection, Standard Model backgrounds, and the lower limits on the lightest neutralino and chargino masses resulted from this analysis.

We report the results of searches for new physics in events with two photons and large missing transverse energy collected with both detectors at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Several models of physics beyond the Standard Model motivate searches in this final state, in particular supersymmetry (SUSY) with gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. The D0 collaboration interprets also its search in the framework of universal extra dimensions (UED) with gravity-mediated Kaluza-Klein excitation decays. The results presented use 2.6 fb−1 (CDF) and 6.3 fb−1 (D0) of data collected at the Fermilab Tevatron collider.

This dissertation presents a search for heavy, long-lived, neutral particles that decay to photons in proton anti-proton collisions with a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV at the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) experiment. Such particles are typical of models of Gauge Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking (GMSB). We select events with a single photon, missing transverse energy, and little other activity in the detector. We model the photon arrival time for Standard Model and non-collision sources using a data-driven method and consider photons which have a time of arrival at the detector which is significantly delayed relative to predictions. Using 6.3 fb-1 of data collected from December 2004 to June 2010, we observe 322 events in the signal region compared to a background prediction of 287 ± 24 events. While the data are consistently above predictions, we report a model excess with a significance of 1.2 standard deviations from the null hypothesis. The latest of the 'Lepton Photon' symposium, one of the well-established series of meetings in the high-energy physics community, was successfully organized at the South Campus of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China, from August 7-12, 2017, where physicists around the world gathered to discuss the latest advancements in the research field. This proceedings volume of the Lepton Photon 2017 collects contributions by the plenary session speakers and the posters' presenters, which cover the latest results in particle physics, nuclear physics, astrophysics, cosmology, and plans for future facilities.

In theories with gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking, the scalar tau, ([tilde[tau]][sub 1]) is the lightest superpartner for a large range of the parameter space. At the large electron positron collider (LEP 2) this scenario can give rise to events with four[tau] leptons and large missing energy. Two of the[tau]'s (coming from the decays of[tilde[tau]][sub 1]'s) will have large energy and transverse momentum, and can have similar sign electrical charges. Such events are very different from the usual photonic events that have been widely studied, and could be a very distinct signal for the discovery of supersymmetry. 20 refs., 2 figs., 3 tabs.
