A red color sun rose lazily out from the Eastern horizon, casting its early dim light upon the calm waters of the ocean Bay marking the beginning of a new summer morning. The warm sun rays slowly mixed with the cool air abandoned from the night before, inspiring a gentle breeze to start blowing towards the land. Seamore, a young seagull, had his head tucked under his warm wing when he first felt the gentle sea-breeze ruffling his feathers. He sleepily peeked out from under his wing at the bright new morning sun and thought to himself, "How good it feels to be awakened by a gentle warm breeze," comparing his thought and memory to some of the cold winter mornings he had experienced in the past. Seamore was perched on the top of an old wooded dock piling where seagulls normally stand or 'roost' when sleeping, he had one of his legs tucked up and pressed against his warm body to protect it from the chilly night air. He then slowly stood up from his perch, shook himself vigorously, ruffling his feathers, stretched his wings out widely, and then gave a loud screeching "SQUACK!" sound from deep within his throat which broke the morning silence, and startled some seagulls across the bay. Seamore was like all the other seagulls you may have seen at the beach. He flew around the Bay most of the day searching for things to eat. But, there was one thing that made Seamore very different from all the other seagulls. Seamore WAS AFRAID OF THE WATER!!!

He helps them learn to cooperate, and together they build a castle that makes them all happy. This is the author's third book, the first being a memoir of sorts and the second was in the genre of erotic fiction. It is a collection of thirteen short stories, all based on or inspired by the fables of Aesop. Although it would be impossible to either add to or detract from Aesop's, the fables were starting points for stories mostly based in the mythical town of Rustbelt City. Apparently, as much wisdom is required for life in the American Midwest as in ancient Greece. And, just as in our own lives, there is a moral hidden somewhere in each of the stories. Unlike in the compilers of Aesop's stories where the morals are handily given to us, we'll have to ferret out the meaning for ourselves. Instead of anthills and agoras, the scenes shift from pagan Greece to pool halls and Fitzpatrick's tavern. Not so cleverly disguised are locales once dear to my heart in a grimy, industrial city that now exists only in my imagination.

This story depicts a novelist who meets a female friend in a small Connecticut shoreline town where they were once childhood sweethearts during their teenage years. Their accidental meeting expands and flourishes into a deep binding love between them, and eventually explodes with many torrid sexual encounters they share with each other. This augmenting love eventually leads to a proposal, marriage, and ends tragically due to an untreatable disease that causes the death of his beloved wife and unborn child. His deep sorrow of the loss of his wife and child slowly evolves into a hardened hatred toward his religion and God, which he angrily denounces and blames as the cause of his losses. He immersed into a deepening void of grief over a period of time which eventually affected his health, and at which point prompted him to give away his vast fortune he had accumulated from the royalties of his published novels and movies which were made from them. Frank Johnson legally bequeathed all of his worldly goods to his wife's family members whom had exhibited kindness and respect to both he and his wife during their courtship. Although Frank refused the offering of a priest to hear his confession as he grew nearer to death, he did manage to make an Act of Contrition with the remaining strength, as he thought he heard his wife call out his name while he sat in a chair in front of a window overlooking the lake and admired the view as he exhaled his last breath and died smiling.
