Sometimes all it takes to process our emotions is to scribble our soul on the paper. Scribbling lets the feelings escape from the bindings of thoughts and express it via words. This short collection of poems is to free up the thoughts and share it with the world so that they scribble it too.

Life is a blank canvas that the deity has made. He is the architect of our existence. He did, however, leave the canvas blank in order to create the best picture of our lives. It must be performed entirely by us and not by anyone else. Allowing someone else to design it may result in dull colours on your painting. Experiment with new colours on your canvas to get the most out of it, as it is properly stated. You are a self-taught artist who creates your own life. No one can create a better canvas than you. Give it your all since an artist is only concerned with filling the canvas with authentic colours. “The Blank Canvas” consists of several co-authors from all over the globe who have dedicated their inked verses as a poem, quote, micro tale or a short story which revolves around the open theme. We are hoping for the great success of this book, a free anthology launched by The Little Booktique Hub Publication in which none of the co-authors are charged a single penny throughout the publishing process.

Abandonment, abortion, verbal abuse, racial and sexual prejudice are just some of the issues covered in this book. These opportunities for growth are painted on this canvas with the hope and intention that others may come out of their closets, no longer having the need to hide any aspect of themselves they may have judged. Writing this book has been a healing journey for me and my hope is that others may also open the doors of their closets and set themselves free. Here are a few lines from one of the poems in this book "Looking Backwards At Your Life.."... "Only you have the power to surrender the mind's chatter. Only you can master the skills of loving yourself. When looking backward at your life, Embrace it and surrender all of life's eternal strife." This book tells the story before the story. Soon after writing "Presence...A Tapestry Of Love Through The Eyes Of The Soul," I realized I hadn't told the story of how I came to be with the love of my life and our first years together. In the beginning of the first book, my husband dies in a plane crash, leaving me three months pregnant and with a three year old son to raise by myself. A tapestry metaphor was used to weave stories and lessons from my life. When writing the second book "Blank Canvas 2013" I used the art of painting as a metaphor to create the rest of the story.

"Still Life: A Bike, A Doll, A Vacant Lot, my thesis for the Master Of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, is a collection of poems and short stories. The themes run from girl-child and teen identity to the emotional selves of both women and men. Revelation of character and honesty, authority and how they use their power, and the pleasures which make life worth living run throughout my poems and stories. I wrote in both genres because I didn't want to be limited to just one. A poem requires an intensity of experience. Jumbling each separate word and choosing a new one becomes a game in itself, like switching around numbers in Sudoku. Writing in fiction with six different stories produced a world of other people who hadn't existed before I conjured them. Titled for images used in the thesis, the writing incorporates paintings as subjects, childhood items not left behind when adulthood is reached, and the landscape of a vacant lot which acts as a blank canvas background." -- Leaf iii.
