In this sequel to the wildly successful Hey Ranger: True Tales of Humor and Misadventure from America's National Parks, former ranger Jim Burnett casts his net globally in search of the most outrageous and humorous stories of man in his eternal quest to experience the natural world. Burnett tells of campers being belted by mysterious objects falling from the sky, like potatoes and ice cream; wildlife photos that went awry, including a ground squirrel that outwits a photographer; dumb crooks in parks, such as the drunk driver who mistakenly knocked on a judge's door to report an accident; and drivers who went over the hill and into the woods instead of to Grandma's house. Burnett also assembles contenders for the strangest questions ever asked of a park ranger, lessons on how not to pick a campsite, life lessons you can learn from a canoe trip, as well as some classic bear stories. As always, Burnett's stories are meant to inform as well as entertain, and serve as cautionary tales on how not to become "a victim of your vacation." Told in Burnett's classic, conversational style, Hey Ranger 2 will not disappoint.

'In the beginning God created The Country Church' has been written during the busy days of active growth of The Country Church in Marion, Texas. Several well known leaders in church growth requested that the history and events of The Country Church be recorded. Pastor Butch Ikels has attempted to carry this out with a three fold purpose. First and foremost, to exalt The Lovely Lord Jesus who made it all possible. Second, to inspire church planters in rural areas to trust the Lord and dare to minister outside the box. Thirdly, to encourage and edify those who serve in remote or ill-defined areas. Prayerfully, that through the pages of this book, they might see the miracle of I Corinthians 1:18-31 lived out in a congregation.

Refuge;Inner, Outer and Innermost. Refuge is necessary at times and it is rare that we experience it alone. We often share refuge with seen and sometimes unseen companions. The following stories touch this theme directly and indirectly. They are an amalgam of experience and observations--mine and others--in some cases people I never encountered directly. They are offered here for your contemplation, enjoyment or disbelief.

Workin' up a hot, sticky sweat is pure pleasure with a hard-ridin' cowboy.... Widowed, struggling stock contractor Gemma Jansen swallows her pride and tracks down former bull rider Cash Big Crow to offer him a job managing her ranch. Cash agrees on one condition: it won't be a strictly working relationship. She's the boss during the day, but once she's corralled in the bedroom, Cash calls the shots. Meanwhile, Carter McKay is spending his summer at the Bar 9 Ranch preparing for an art show. But he's definitely not prepared for the immediate visceral connection he feels to Cash's sexy and sassy daughter Macie Honeycutt. Lust flares between them and Macie proves she's up for any dirty fun and games that sweet and wild Carter dreams up. Gemma struggles with her feelings for Cash-except this time, Cash has grabbed the bull by the horns. He has to convince Gemma he's playing for keeps. The more time Macie spends with Carter the harder she falls for him. But will the brooding artist understand that trust is just as important as love? It's going to be a long, hot summer in Wyoming. Warning: this book contains explicit sex nine ways 'til Sunday, inventive rope play, graphic language, menage a trois, and all sorts of fun and kinky cowboy stuff."

E. C. Abbott was a cowboy in the great days of the 1870's and 1880's. He came up the trail to Montana from Texas with the long-horned herds which were to stock the northern ranges; he punched cows in Montana when there wasn't a fence in the territory; and he married a daughter of Granville Stuart, the famous early-day stockman and Montana pioneer. For more than fifty years he was known to cowmen from Texas to Alberta as "Teddy Blue." This is his story, as told to Helena Huntington Smith, who says that the book is "all Teddy Blue. My part was to keep out of the way and not mess it up by being literary.... Because the cowboy flourished in the middle of the Victorian age, which is certainly a funny paradox, no realistic picture of him was ever drawn in his own day. Here is a self-portrait by a cowboy which is full and honest." And Teddy Blue himself says, "Other old-timers have told all about stampedes and swimming rivers and what a terrible time we had, but they never put in any of the fun, and fun was at least half of it." So here it is—the cowboy classic, with the "terrible" times and the "fun" which have entertained readers everywhere. First published in 1939, We Pointed Them North has been brought back into print by the University of Oklahoma Press in completely new format, with drawings by Nick Eggenhofer, and with the full, original text.
