Documentary research established that the study area was originally part of a 30,000-acre Northern Neck land grant in 1687. The Prince William County Office of Planning requested that the archeological survey be completed on the 3-acre +/- Nokesville Road study area as an initial step in the development of this property. The study was conducted between December 2004 and January 2005.
