Excerpt from Report of the Proceedings at the Formation of the African Education Society: Instituted at Washington, December 28, 1829, With an Address to the Public, by the Board of Managers III. Every individual who shall annually contribute one dollar to the Society, shall be a member; and a contribution, at any one time, of twenty dollars shall constitute life membership. IV. The officers of this Society shall be, a President, one or more Vice Presidents, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Recorder, and a Board of Managers, composed of the abovementioned officers and twelve other members of the Society, to be elected at the annual meeting any five of whom shall constitute a quorum.
