In this intricate investigation, in a district almost wholly covered with forest, he has accumulated a great number of valuable facts, which, joined to my own labors in these counties, have enabled me to prepare a detailed map of the geology of this interesting region. Mr. Richard Oatey, a practical Cornish miner, residing in Montreal, has from time to time been entrusted with the examination of metalliferous lodes and deposits, particularly those holding lead, copper, silver, and gold, with a view of ascertaining their economic value.
