The new species and subspecies here described will be illustrated in the final report on the collections obtained in Philippine and adjacent waters during the years 1907-1910 by the steamer Albatross of the United States Bureau of Fisheries. The new forms are as follows: Varuna aUimana. Ptychognathus guijulugani. Sesarma (Sesarma) palawanense. Sesarma (Sesarma) vicentense. Sesarma (Sesarma) mindanaoense. Sesarma (Sesarma) edwardsi pTiilippinense. Sesarma (Sesarma) sequifrons. Sesarma (Sesarma) tectum. Sesarma (Holometopus) limbense. Sesarma (Parasesarma) dumacense. Sesarma (Parasesarma) moluccense jamelense. Sesarma (Parasesarma) pangauranense. Macrophthalmus sandaJcani. Dotitta sigiMorum. Tympanomerus philippinensis. The genus Varuna1 is expanded to include those species of Ptychognathus in which the front is prominent, sublaminar, its margin horizontal and distant from the anterior border of the antennular cavities; the antero-lateral teeth well-marked and acute; the upper surface of the wrist subquadrilateral and armed at the inner angle with a tooth or spine; all of which characters are common to typical Varuna.
