From this the Board in San Francisco receives $2,000. The Grand Lodge of Manitoba was recognized and welcomed in the family of Grand Lodges. Three charters were granted. Perhaps no California statesman is better known to the Gentile residents in Utah, than Bro. A. A. Sargent, and it was him the Grand Master had appointed todeliver the annual oration, but owing to his Senatorial duties he was compelled toresign. The Rev. Bro. Dr. Bonte, of Sacramento, filled the place on short notice, and delivered an oration; a better one we have not often read. Bro. Sargent was present and apologized for his inability to perform the duty assigned him by the Grand Master. The Rev. Bro. William H. Hill, "in obedience to the command of the Grand Master," wielded again the pen of Chairman of the Committee on Correspondence, and submitted a review of the Proceedings of fifty-two Grand Lodges--Utah for 1875, among them, receives fraternal mention.
