Excerpt from Proceedings of the Annual Meeting of the Stockholders of the Cape Fear Padkin Valley R'y Co: Fayetteville, October 5th, 1893 The Stockholders of the Cape Fear and Yadkin Valley Railway Company met this day, in the Town Hall of Fayetteville. under the provisions of the By-Laws thereof. On motion of President Lash. O. W. Carr, of Greensboro. was called to the Chair and Jno. M. Rose, Secretary of the Company, being ex-officio Secretary of the meeting. Messrs. E. J. Lilly, Col. J. A. Pemberton and the Secretary were appointed a Committee on Proxies, and to ascertain if a majority of stock was represented in this meeting. The Committee reported that the whole number of shares of stock were 19.604; that there was represented in person 16,1281/2 shares, and by proxy 2421/2 shares, which was a large majority of all the stock, and the meeting was declared by the Chairman to be duly and legally constituted for the transaction of business. The report of the President and Directors was read and approved, and the report and the accompanying reports of the officers were directed to be printed with the proceedings of this meeting. On motion of R. T. Gray, it was resolved that when this meeting adjourns it adjourns to meet on the second day of November. 1893. On motion, the Secretary was authorized to cast the vote of the Stockholders for the Board of Directors for the ensuing year.
