A meditation master illuminates the path trekchö and provides his commentary on the atiyoga dzogchen instructions from the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism The path of trekchö is the way of directly and thoroughly cutting through the misconceptions of samsara to lay bare the primordial purity of the nature of mind. This powerful practice is illuminated by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche in his commentary on an essential text based on the atiyoga dzogcheninstructions of the outstanding nineteenth-century master Patrul Rinpoche. Three Words That Strike the Vital Point is the famous seminal statement by Garap Dorje that is said to encapsulate all the myriad dzogchen tantras. The key instructions on it by Patrul Rinpoche—the verses known as "The Special Teaching of Khepa Shri Gyalpo"—form the basis for the discourse in Primordial Purity. It explains that in dzogchen, when one has fully recognized that all the confusion of samsara is the expressive power of great emptiness, confusion is spontaneously liberated into the primordial purity of mind’s essential nature. Compassion spontaneously arises, accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche illuminates this beautifully in this profound work, which will inspire students of Buddhism and deepen their experiential appreciation of the teachings.

The collection of teachings presented in As It Is, Volume II, is selected from talks given by the Tibetan meditation master, Kyabje Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche between 1994 and 1995. The emphasis in Volume I was on the development stage practice and in Volume II primarily on the completion stage. However, to make such divisions is merely for the convenience of the editors. In the reality of Rinpoche's teaching method, no such separations exist. Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche was someone with extra¬ordinary experience and realization, a fact known throughout the world. It is evident to everyone that he was unlike anyone else when it came to pointing out the nature of mind, and making sure that people both recognized it and had some actual experience. --Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche was an incredible master, both learned and ac¬complished. The great masters of this time -- the 16th Karmapa, Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche and Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche -- all venerated him as one of their root gurus and a jewel in their crown or¬nament. He was someone who achieved the final realization of the Great Perfection. --Orgyen Tobgyal Rinpoche The difference between buddhas and sentient beings is that sentient beings are busy fabricating. Our self-existing wakefulness is being altered and contrived and as long as it continues to be so, that long we will wander in samsara. Instead, we need to recognize the nature of mind. Here I am explaining this to give you the idea, of how it is. The next step is for you to experience; intellectual understanding is not enough. You need to actually taste it and realize it. Train till it becomes uninterrupted. --Kyabje Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche

Mipam ('ju mi pham rgya mtsho, 1846–1912) is one of the most prolific thinkers in the history of Tibet and is a key figure in the Nyingma tradition of Buddhism. His works continue to be widely studied in the Tibetan cultural region and beyond. This book provides an in-depth account of Mipam's view, drawing on a wide range of his works and offering several new translations. Douglas S. Duckworth shows how a dialectic of presence and absence permeates Mipam's writings on the Middle Way and Buddha-nature. Arguably the most important doctrine in Buddhism, Buddha-nature is, for Mipam, equivalent to the true meaning of emptiness; it is the ground of all and the common ground shared by sentient beings and Buddhas. This ground is the foundation of the path and inseparable from the goal of Buddhahood. Duckworth probes deeply into Mipam's writings on Buddha-nature to illuminate its central place in a dynamic Buddhist philosophy.

'Wisdom and Wonder' is a book of wisdom chapters in two 'Centuries, ' an ancient monastic wisdom genre much loved by the desert fathers. For these elders, wonder is the root and crown of wisdom, not only its origin. In these meditations, the mysteries of glorification and deification are explored from within the Orthodox tradition of wisdom and wonder. Priest-monk Silouan lives in the Monastery of St Antony and St Cuthbert, a hermitage within the Romanian jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church, high up in the south-west Shropshire hills. Fr. Silouan lives alone under the Shepherd's rock on the eastern slopes of the Stiperstones, in an old miner's cottage on a small-holding of twenty acres of pasture and woodland. He lives a life of prayer, silence, liturgy and work in the ancient tradition of orthodox monasticism.
