Excerpt from Report of the President of Bowdoin College for the Academic Year, 1917-1918: Together With the Reports of the Dean of the College, the Librarian, and the Director of the Museum of Fine Arts From Commencement Day, I9I7, I was acting president of the College until May 14, 1918, when I was elected President. During this period I was also dean, although very many of the details of that office were handled by Professor Paul Nixon whose report follows mine. In view of these facts and of the conditions caused by the war, this annual review of the life of the College must in several ways depart from the usual presi dential report. Excerpt from Report of the President of Bowdoin College for the Academic Year, 1925-1926: Together With the Reports of the Dean, the Librarian, and the Director of the Museum of Fine Arts Thanks to the generosity of some of the alumni in New York City who have provided the necessary funds, a large reception room is being added to the President's House on Federal Street. The present occupants of that house appreciate very deeply the greatly increased facilities for entertainment which such a room will furnish, and feel sure that their successors will be equally grateful. In the official home of the College where necessarily, in some way or other, on an average nearly two thousand guests are entertained annually, a beautiful and spacious reception room will be a very real asset. Excerpt from Fourth Annual Report of the President Schurman, 1895-96: With Appendices Containing Reports of the Dean of the General Faculty, the Dean of the School of Law, the Librarian, Etc To the Board of Trustees: The President of the University has the honor to submit the following Report for the year 1895-96. The Report covers the period from September 1, 1895, to August 31, 1896. Trustees The Board has been greatly strengthened by the increase in its membership described in the last Report. As the general policy of the University is now pretty well established, and the Executive Committee attends to all routine business, the chief function of the Board of Trustees is to augment and care for the endowments of the University. Investments are made by the Finance Committee with the co-operation of the Treasurer; and the thorough examination of the finances of the University conducted at the first meeting of the enlarged Board furnished a further demonstration of the care, wisdom, and remarkable success with which the endowments are managed. As the result of this examination was highly satisfactory to the Board, it was in the same degree complimentary to the Treasurer and to the Finance Committee, and especially to its chairman, Mr. George R. Williams, who devotes a large portion of his own time to this important service to the University. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
