A critical look at the Chavez regime from a leftist Venezuelan perspective, this account debunks claims made by Venezuelan and U.S. rightists that the regime is antidemocratic and dictatorial. Instead, the book argues that the Chavez government is one of a long line of Latin American populist organizations that have been ultimately subservient to the United States as well as multinational corporations. Explaining how autonomous Venezuelan social, labor, and environmental movements have been systematically disempowered by the Chavez regime, this analysis contends that these movements are the basis of a truly democratic, revolutionary alternative.

Originally published in 1985, Police and Public Order in Europe examines the development of the police in Western Europe and considers how police functions have changed over time. Each contributor looks at the experience of one country while having regard to the practices of the other countries. The role of the police in maintaining public order had become increasingly important in the early 1980s. The activities of terrorists from both Left and Right in Italy, Spain and West Germany and the IRA in Great Britain had long been a focus of attention. However, in many ways a more disturbing phenomenon was the increase in the general level of popular unrest which had produced considerable rioting and looting in British cities as well as often violent confrontation between the police and an increasing range of protesters in other European countries. These events received wide media coverage at the time and the issue of public order was one of growing concern for governments, the police and the public. The role of the police in Western Europe was now firmly political.

Mexican police cars are very colorful and much loved by children. Law enforcement services in Mexico are shared between federal, border, traffic, state and municipal police. The two main police forces with national remit are the uniform police called Policia Federal and the plainclothed criminal investigations force called Policia Federal Ministerial (PFM). Mexico is a very beautiful country with a rich history and very diverse population. Unfortunately the drug business with the USA makes the country dangerous for many people. Most Mexicans are very proud of their country, and their musical culture is fantastic, with many great singers and many more wonderful musical bands and dance traditions. The authors have made a similar book on American police cars and the styles have similarity between the two countries. We hope you will enjoy our selection of photos.
