The warfare of science and theology is now seen in a new light. It is not a deadly combat in which one or the other must be defeated or destroyed. It is a constant and growing readjustment, with mod ifications on both sides, by which religion gains a surer footing and a Wider horizon, while science becomes an associate with piety in a diviner art of life. Religion has ceased to fear science, and sci ence has ceased to hate religion; each has changed its attitude toward the other, and both recognize that they are coordinate agents whose essential purpose is the same: to serve man and glorify God.
