It was my hope when writing this book to also plant seeds of faith in our children's hearts. I have nineteen grandkids, and I pray every day that they will find the Lord at a young age, as the world is trying so hard to pull them away. I wanted to write a book that would remind them that Jesus tells them to come to him. If God knows those who are his before they are born, it makes sense that the sooner our children learn about Jesus, the better. Planting the Seeds for Jesus is about a little girl's love for Jesus and how excited she gets when Jesus uses her to share her faith with her friends. In this story, God is using her love for gardening to teach her lessons about him, as she will have to trust him for rain and thank him when he sends it. This is a book about not just how God made the world but how God can talk with her as she reads her Bible and learns to walk with him. It will not only touch our children's hearts but also touch our hearts as we remember God loves it when we come to him like children. You could find yourself reading Planting the Seeds for Jesus to remember how God wants us to love him with a childlike faith.

This groundbreaking walk through Scripture by former physician and carpenter Dr. Matthew Sleeth makes the convincing case that trees reveal more about God and faith than you ever imagined. “Christians looking to reconnect to the natural world will relish Sleeth’s passionate call to Christian stewardship of the Earth.”—Publishers Weekly Fifteen years ago, Matthew Sleeth believed that science and logic held the answers to everything. But when tragedy struck, he opened the Bible for the first time and was surprised to find that God chose to tell the gospel story through a trail of trees. There’s a tree on the first page of Genesis, in the first psalm, on the first page of the New Testament, and on the last page of Revelation. The Bible’s wisdom is referred to as a tree of life. Every major biblical character and every major theological event has a tree marking the spot. A tree was the only thing that could kill Jesus—and the only thing Jesus ever harmed. Reforesting Faith is the rare book that builds bridges by connecting those who love the Creator with creation and those who love creation with the Creator. Join Dr. Sleeth as he explores the wonders of life, death, and rebirth through the trail of trees in Scripture. Once you discover the hidden language of trees, your walk through the woods—and through Scripture—will never be the same.

In Genesis 1, God spoke of making (hu)man in his image and after his likeness. In Genesis 2, God formed (hu)man off the dust of the ground and breathe into his nostrils the breath of life. Just as in the beginning, God spoke his word and it became to pass. But when it came to the earth, God spoke that it would bring forth fruit from whatever was planted in it, and whatever grew from what was planted, the seed of it was in the fruit of what would grow. God planted his word and his Spirit in us from the very beginning. But another seed was planted—the seed of disobedience. So now we have to choose what words we will receive to grow in us to produce whatever type of fruit, for the seed is in that fruit. So in receiving the Word of God as planting seeds, you are now the by-product of the first fruits. His seed is within to produce after his kind.
