Now with an all new picture, deleted chapters of Phoenix Rising that provide backstory, and a short story by Ryk E. Spoor! A new breakout fantasy epic filled with strong world building, engaging characters, and wondrous adventure. Kyri: a highborn young woman whose life is shattered by the murder of her kin. But even as Kyri flees her beloved land Evanwyl, she knows that she is her family's only hope for justice, and Evanwyl's only chance to escape a growing shadow of corruption and destruction. Now Kyri must venture across Zarathan, a world on the brink of a long foretold Chaos War. It is a struggle that may usher in a long age of darkness— that is, if Kyri and her companions do not succeed in holding back the tide of evil that is rising. Those companions include valiant swordsman Tobimar Silverun, Prince of Skysand, exiled on the turn of a card and a prophecy, who is now seeking his people's lost homeland; and Poplock Duckweed, an unlikely hero whose diminutive size is as much a weapon as it is a weakness. Kyri's quest is as simple as it is profound: find a legendary ancient weaponsmith, take up the sword and armor of a new order of warrior defenders, and bring the power of justice and vengeance to the evil and corruption that has darkened her native land. THROUGH the centuries, Chinese women have had to struggle under a load of injustices—denial of education, ineligibility to sit the civil service examinations and hold official posts, female infanticide, selling of daughters, concubinage, foot binding—just to name a few. They had largely remained silent because they did not have a voice. As China descended to abject poverty in the nineteenth century, the lot of Chinese women became even worse. When Chinese women came to Malaysia (Malaya then) largely from the nineteenth century onwards, the circumstances became different. Under British law, they were the equal of men, but social conditions took some time to evolve. For instance, daughters were left out of inheritance until quite recently, sons received preferential treatment in education and polygamy was declared illegal only in the 1930s. But Chinese women became successful entrepreneurs through their own ability, and, through education, many of them became distinguished professionals. Phoenix Rising, Pioneering Chinese Women of Malaysia is the story of Chinese women who have immigrated to this country and forged independent lives different from their lives in China. They have shown courage, resilience and determination in improving their lives. Like the phoenix, the mythological bird that symbolises the Chinese woman, they are set to soar to greater heights given equal opportunities and just social conditions.

In an age when the supply of gasoline to feed this modern American society has become both more expensive and more scarce questions are being pondered. Inquires like, How can a modern society scale back its dependence on gasoline as a motive source?' Are there genuine alternative power sources?' Are they the answer to a growing crisis?' Recent announcements of hybrids like those from Honda, Toyota, and Ford have really brought attention to this issue. Hybrids that use both gasoline engines and electric motors. Really, though, alternative power sources have been around for as long as the automobile has been. The battle between and among the steam car, the electric and the gas car was fought out in the first couple of decades of the twentieth century. This book explores the ins and outs of that battle. A struggle from which the gasoline car emerged completely victorious. To such an extent that steam cars and electric cars virtually disappeared from the scene for many decades. We will look over all three alternatives, exploring their advantages and disadvantages. We will also look over the obstacles to the steamers and the electrics. Barriers that still exist to a certain extent. Handicaps that caused their disappearance in the first place.
