Out of this experience and study has grown the conclusion that efficiency in teaching is 1 the outcome of persistent effort based on progressive insight into the nature of the processes involved. Except as regards the purely mechanical aspects of schoolroom management, mere experience in teaching is fruitless. One element in the growth of the teacher is an understanding of the aim and meaning of education as a concrete social process.
