Uto-Aztecan stock is one of the largest language groups of North and Central America in terms of population, linguistic diversity, and geographic distribution. The northernmost Uto-Aztecan language, Northern Paiute, is found as far north as Oregon and Idaho. In the south, varieties of Nahuatl are spoken as far south as Nicaragua and El Salvador. The most famous of these is Classical Nahuatl, the language of the Aztec Empire of central Mexico. In my tribal calling as a genealogist for the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah, I amassed Native American family histories from Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, and Utah. 50,000 names so far. with this, I have traced their migrations and origins. Come see the epic escape by sea from the seething cauldron of Mesoamerican violence. Come and see how the Tatavians (Fernandinos) came from the north in a white-knuckle adventure at sea. Come, read about the great drought in Southern California that sent many on a 700-mile walk to Utah; hence the Utes and Southern Paiutes.
