Room has thus been made for ample digests of the important Acts for the consolidation and amendment of the Bankruptcy Laws, for the removal of Npisances and regulation of Lodging-housee, for the new system of Registration of Voters in Burghs, for the incorporation and regulation of J oint-stock Companies, for ia creaeing the efliciency of Reformatory and Industrial Schools, and for transferring the jurisdiction of the Court of Exchequer to the Court of Session. Abstracts are inserted of other statutes of general concern, such as those regarding Commissioners of Supply, Advances for Improvement of Land, Fire Insurances, Malt Duty, Income Tax, Procedure before J natices, J udicial Proeedure and Securities for Debts, Alteration of the Mercantile Laws, and Amendment of the Law of Marriage. Local Acts do not fall within the plan of the volume; but as the Edinburgh Almanac would have been incomplete without an abridgment of the Edinburgh Municipal Extension Act, an analysis of its clauses has been given.
