Throughout the years his education was at Wake Forest College, Duke University and East Carolina University. He was the beloved pastor of Kenansville Baptist Church for 39, years. He was, involved as a community leader in Kenansville, n.c. He served as Mayor for 10 years; established the fire department in 1953 and was Fire Chief until 1980; and was a Lions District Deputy Governor and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He also held positions as teacher, guidance counse lor and assistant principal in county public schools. His surviving wife is Mrs. Bar bara Barnes Sharpe. He passed away at age 59.
