This annual series of books includes scientific papers on mining profiles. This volume presents multiple aspects of mining technology implementation in several aspects: extraction of coal, iron, manganese, uranium and other ores. Capturing and utilization of coalbed methane by various methods including alternative ones, safety measures in mining, ecological aspects, etc.Specific attention is paid to intensification of mineral resources extraction processes by way of modernizing opening methods, development and mining methods depending on mining-geological conditions. Experimental results of stress-strain state rock massif forecast by means of computational experiments using recursive methods are also discussed. Any mining operations should finally result in adequate recovery of land surface and utilization of mining wastes using various environmentally friendly methods, thus, sufficient attention is paid to this scientific trend. Non-traditional methods of minerals mining are becoming more topical and of higher demand in the modern society. Hence, several papers/chapters are devoted to underground coal gasification and its subsequent processes. In addition, extraction technologies of gas hydrate, as a source of an abundant amount of natural gas, are thoroughly examined in this book, including implementation of gas hydrate technologies for mine methane utilizations with its following transportation in a solid state. Furthermore, attention is given to evaluation of economic efficiency of minerals mining by the proposed methods, their ways of enrichment, ecological aspects and the influence of mining production on the environment, innovational logistic solutions at mining enterprises, and also to perspectives of Ukraine‘s mining industry integration to the European standards.

The book "All about Digital Transformation and Mining 4.0", is part of a series of 3 books that allows the reader, even if they are not a specialist, to understand the importance of innovation and digital transformation in the energy mining sector, as well as to know the jobs in mining innovation that are currently being worked on in the different areas of mining, the future that lies ahead, the methodologies that exist to lead the projects of tomorrow and the approach that companies could follow to be able to promote and foster cultural change within of their organizations towards a less traditional and more innovative culture. This book is divided into 5 chapters that describe in detail first of all general concepts of digital transformation, the importance of strategy and the benefits it brings in this new world where the company that does not transform and is more efficient does not survive . The second part describes more representative success stories of companies that are being digitally transformed and the direct benefits they have obtained by applying digital transformation strategies. In the third part, the value chain of the mining sector is described, stage by stage, giving general notions of the activities and processes that each stage comprises. In the fourth part of the book, it presents the general technologies and experiences of digitization in the mining industry and how applied technology has revolutionized and will revolutionize traditional mining, making it more competitive and efficient. Finally, in the fifth part, some general recommendations and conclusions are given.

This book develops and articulates a new perspective on the relationship between natural resources and development by foregrounding issues of innovation, knowledge, and industrial dynamics. Despite growing academic attention to the relationship between economic development and natural resources in social sciences, the issue has received rather limited attention in the field of Innovation Studies. This is problematic given the centrality of innovation and technological change for growth and development. Against that background, this book makes three contributions. Firstly, it summarizes and synthesizes existing insights about learning and innovation in Natural Resource Based Industries. Secondly, it develops new insights based on original research work. Thirdly, it distils and explains the remaining research challenges in the field. Containing important insights for researchers, businesses, and policymakers, this book will be useful to all those with an interest in navigating a natural resource based development pathway. This book was originally published as a special issue of Innovation and Development.

A perfect introduction to sustainable mining for those new to the subject or those who require some revision, this book provides a basic overview of international sustainable mining practices since 1992, with particular emphasis upon practices in the Americas, Asia and Europe. The text begins by addressing issues such as the volume of waste generated by mining, mine closure planning and the environmental impacts, and then goes into specific detail in the following areas: cleaner production practices in Australia; blasting impacts and their control in the US; minimizing surface water impacts; minimizing groundwater impacts; use of environmental indicators in mining; and emerging mining technologies that minimize environmental impacts. The text contains relevant examples and case histories for ease of revision, and also includes a chapter on Best Mining Practices for Sustainable Mining and sub-chapters on small-scale mining, tailings pond management and hazardous waste management.
