This is a unique memoir that tells Patricia Margaret’s story from her early years, through to her time in the WAAF during WW2, as well as her later career with BOAC and her life as an expat wife and mother. Filled with amusing and poignant stories of her life around the world, it is also peppered with old photographs and nuggets of historical interest for readers. Combining a kaleidoscope of anecdotes, the book follows Patricia’s life story, from being a quiet, shy child to managing a shift of 42 people in the operations room at RAF Middle Wallop. After the war, Patricia continued her association with flying and joined BOAC; initially based at Hurn and then at Heathrow. Her talents were soon spotted and she was asked to go to Cairo, by flying boat, to manage one of the local offices. Her 9 months in Cairo were full of the colour and vibrancy of this exciting city. Returning to the UK, she became a stewardess on Constellations and Stratocruisers, enjoying the privileges of overseas travel at a time when the rest of the country was still suffering with rationing. However, after marriage, she gave up flying and embarked on a new career – that of an expat wife and mother.

Have you ever wondered what the most important part of the Bible is? Among all the do's and don'ts and shoulds and shouldn'ts, do you know what's absolutely essential? Bestselling author and pastor Max Lucado teaches us that the answer lies at the foot of the cross. Come with Max as he guides you through the drama of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, bringing to life Peter's denial, Pilate's hesitancy, and John's loyalty. No Wonder They Call Him the Savior will lead you up the hill of mankind's highest hope and remind you why he deserves to be called our Savior. In No Wonder They Call Him the Savior, you'll see Jesus' final acts in a new light: His final prayer of forgiveness His plea honored His request of love His question of suffering His confession of humanity His call of deliverance The cry of completion In No Wonder They Call Him the Savior, Max invites you to relive the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion, from the foggy garden of Gethsemane to the incandescent room of the resurrection. Let's examine this hour in history. Let's look at the witnesses. Let's listen to the voices. Let's observe the one they call the Savior. And, most of all, let's see if we can find hope in the unlikeliest place: at the cross.

This book explores and explains scientific mysteries and principles, leavened with tongue-in-cheek humor and an abundance of illustrations. Chapters are short, but give an understanding of technology and science not available elsewhere. Questions include: • What holds a satellite up while it goes around the Earth? • Why is the sky (made out of clear air!) blue instead of green, or just black as night like the sky that high altitude jumper Felix Baumgartner saw? • How is laser light different from “normal” light? • Did Columbus really discover that the Earth is round? • Which one invention will assuredly survive our civilization? • Why can’t you travel back in time? If you often feel embarrassed because you don’t have a clue about lasers, the difference between volts, amps and watts, or how jet planes really work – but you would like to understand the physical principles of our modern world, whether you’re a teen or a parent – this book is for you! To understand the basics of quantum mechanics, or of protons, neutrons and electrons, you don’t need algebra, calculus, or a lot of equations or technical buzzwords. Too many people have been soured on science by science teachers who have made simple concepts seem complex. This book is the antidote: all it requires is your curiosity. Advance praise for No Wonder You Wonder!: “From beginning to end, and with laugh after laugh, I enjoyed every single word of this remarkable book. Phipps is a hell of a good writer, and the kind of physics teacher that I would have loved as a young student. No Wonder You Wonder can be engrossing for anyone with a bit of curiosity, not just the scientific minded.” – Christophe Bonnal, Chief Engineer, CNES (French Space Agency) “No Wonder You Wonder is a fa ntastic book. Covering topics such as space, matter, and the energy within the universe, this book does an excellent job of clarifying these topics. It's a great read for young scientists and aspiring physicists.” – August R., high school freshman
