On February 4, 2012, a young forty-nine-year-old female had a stroke while in a Kroger store. This was before all the ads came out about if someone can't talk, you need to get them to the ER. That was what had happened to her the day before. She then had a stroke while her son was waiting for her to bring him his treats for the wrestling tournament that he was in. Her daughter was waiting for her to come home, and she was calling her to see what was the matter. Her mother didn't take the phone with her. She didn't think she would need it. The funny thing was that, this woman was an experienced ICU, psychiatry, and emergency room RN. The things that happened after she had her stroke were unbelievable and life changing. She had a second stroke, a seizure, an inordinate amount of falls, depression, and anxiety. She had dealt with infidelity. She spent her time in one room of a large house, only leaving occasionally. It had been a difficult road, but even with total disability, you can overcome. This book is written to give others support, to let nurses know that you have to take care of yourself and you can never pray too much.

Our 1973 motorcycle ride took us from Beatrice, Nebraska, to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, Albuquerque, Phoenix, San Diego, LA, Vacaville, Lake Tahoe, Denver, and then back to Nebraska. We were teenagers, and we had relatives, friends, acquaintances, and girlfriends to see all along the journey. Some nights we camped out, others we stayed in a friend’s travel trailer, and some nights we enjoyed regular beds and access to a swimming pool. Each of us rode a 350cc two-stroke motorcycles on the 3500-mile trip. We had no cell phones, roadside assistance insurance coverage, custom ear plugs, or sound systems. The early 70’s was different than the 60’s, but not that much different. The attraction of the open road and the Pacific Ocean was very powerful. None of us were worried about breaking down or the costs of the trip. We had to go see western America. And we did.

Another tender romance about the healing power of love by Jeff Erno, one of the best loved authors of gay fiction. At thirty-eight years of age, Chandler finds himself single and caring for his brother Raymond, who suffers numerous health problems. Mired in grief from the multiple deaths of close family members, he recedes into himself, crippled with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive tendencies. Early one morning Chandler’s life is flipped on its end when he encounters his neighbor, twenty-five year old Marcus. Nothing about a relationship with this young man makes sense. For one thing, Marcus is... well... YOUNG. He's also biracial and has all kinds of tattooed muscles! The streetwise Marcus introduces Chandler to an entirely different lifestyle, pulling the would-be hermit from his shell, albeit kicking and screaming. But how long can such a relationship last, and what about Raymond? Chandler fears a guy like Marcus, seemingly perfect in every way, won't be able to truly accept Chandler with all his baggage. An unexpected bombshell detonates and Chandler learns some unsavory details about Marcus, who he really is, and what he's done in the past. Finally, it's Chandler who must decide if he can accept Marcus' baggage.
