Giving Thanks I wanted to take the time and thank all of you who stuck by me during my horrendous struggle. There have been so many people that I have come in contact with over the years, and I wanted to say I'm sorry for anything I might have done that offended or hurt you. Shortly after my husband and I met, he made a comment to me that I didn't give much merit to until now: "Don't complain about the things that you have the power to change." And I now follow that advice to my new everyday life! I also remember a wise person once told me, "It's not what you do while you're here on earth but the legacy that you leave behind!" This is the beginning of my legacy! Thank you to all my family and friends for hanging in there with me. I give my utmost apologies for anything I might have ever done to hurt you. I love you all very much! I am grateful to God every day for you and all that you have done for me! Thank you to my church family for trying to keep in touch with me, letting me know you were all still there for me! I appreciate it more than you'll ever know! I think it would be safe to say that all your prayers for me have been answered! I wanted to say thank you to Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler, and Jeff Dunham for giving me many laughs during my long struggle! I'm sure you might think it's silly, but those laughs helped me in more ways than you could ever imagine! I also want to say thank you to Marshall Mathers. You showed me to be proud of where I came from, and even though we may have been involved with some nightmarish ordeals while growing up, we are still important people in God's eyes! I want to give a special thank-you to Pink for helping me realize that surviving our struggles doesn't mean that we are damaged goods, but we are pretty freakin' incredible! For those of you who like to make mean, nasty, hurtful comments about people, please think twice before saying anything else about any one! Thank you, God, for never giving up on me even when I felt you had every right to! I have chosen you to be the first priority in my life! I love you with all my heart and soul for creating your son and sending him to die for me! That type of sacrifice to save the people you love is truly on a level that is completely mind-blowing and can never be fully appreciated as long as there are people out there who continue to deny you! People say fairy tales don't exist, and I guess I would have to agree but not because I don't think they exist but because what you did to save all of us, all your sinful people whom you created, far outweigh the happy endings in any old fairy tale! There were times when both my parents had really hurt me and let me down, but we all have our imperfections, and with that being said, I have completely forgiven them for everything! But you, my heavenly Father, have never let me down, and I know that you never will! Thank you for taking away my lifelong pain and anger, turning it into knowledge, courage, and strength! I only hope to make you proud and truly be that person you had created me to be! Thank you to everyone for reading this book. God had so many opportunities to take me out of this world, but I am praying you all realize that having the chance to read this book is exactly why he didn't!

Color Theory for the Make-up Artist: Understanding Color and Light for Beauty and Special Effects analyzes and explains traditional color theory for fine artists and shows how to apply it directly toward make-up applications Make-up artists control color the same way a painter does. They choose color palettes, match colors, blend new colors, and create designs on a canvas that is always changing. Some colors cancel others, some balance each other, and some oppose other colors. However, painters seldom have to consider inconsistencies in how their art will be lit and where it will be displayed the way that a make-up artists does. This book teaches how to mix any color using just red, yellow, blue, and white. It discusses the reason for variations in skin colors and undertones, and how to identify and match these using make-up, while choosing flattering colors for the eyes, lips, and cheeks. Colors found inside the body are explained for special effects make-up, like why we bruise, bleed, or appear sick, and ideas and techniques are also described for painting prosthetics. The book also explains how lighting affects color on film, television, theater, and photography sets, and how to properly light a workspace for successful applications. Whether you are a professional or a beginner, you will never stop learning. There will always be new products, techniques, and fashions – this book provides guidance and inspiration to keep practicing, creating, and honing your skills.

Why and How I Wrote This Book Like many of you I wanted to read the Bible from cover to cover. I did it on a yearly plan, reading so many verses each night. After the year was up I was done, a big accomplishment, right? There was one problem: I forgot what I had read. This was not the result I wanted. So I read it again, but this time I wrote the verses that were important to me on 3x5 cards. I had a total of approximately 50 cards. These verses became a part of me as I would read them over and over and became My Foundation of Life. They have helped me, but just as importantly have helped the person I'm dedicating the book to: Lenka. Tracy. It was her suggestion that I put them in a book so that they could help others as she had been helped by them. The verses you are about to read are from the New American Standard Bible and the King James versions The verses that I gave to Lenka weren't in any particular order and were paraphrased. These verses helped me and Lenka. My hope is that they will help you too.. My faith is Catholic, but I was born a Lutheran and was raised Baptist. I comment and make observations on several of these verses These comments may or may not help you. It is my perspective. Yours may be different. The Bible is very important in my life. I hope it is important in your life too, but if not maybe it can become so.

We hope it will give you a great reading experience! The Lectures on Faith were originally prepared as materials for the School of the Prophets in Kirtland, Ohio in 1834 and were included in the Doctrine and Covenants from 1835 to 1921. Although the Lectures on Faith have never been accepted as revelation by the body of the church (and so were removed from the Doctrine and Covenants in 1921), they contain important doctrinal insights that can help anyone seeking to learn more about faith and come closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. President Joseph Fielding Smith noted, “I suppose that the rising generation knows little about the Lectures on Faith. . . . In my own judgment, these Lectures are of great value and should be studied. . . . I consider them to be of extreme value in the study of the gospel of Jesus Christ.” (Joseph Fielding Smith, Seek Ye Earnestly. Salt Lake City: Deseret Book, 1970.) Elder Bruce R. McConkie of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles has stated the lectures contain “some of the best lesson material ever prepared on the Godhead; on the character, perfections, and attributes of God; on faith, miracles, and sacrifice. They can be studied with great profit by all gospel scholars.” (Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine. Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1966.)

George Orwell set out ‘to make political writing into an art’, and to a wide extent this aim shaped the future of English literature – his descriptions of authoritarian regimes helped to form a new vocabulary that is fundamental to understanding totalitarianism. While 1984 and Animal Farm are amongst the most popular classic novels in the English language, this new series of Orwell’s essays seeks to bring a wider selection of his writing on politics and literature to a new readership. In Why I Write, the first in the Orwell’s Essays series, Orwell describes his journey to becoming a writer, and his movement from writing poems to short stories to the essays, fiction and non-fiction we remember him for. He also discusses what he sees as the ‘four great motives for writing’ – ‘sheer egoism’, ‘aesthetic enthusiasm’, ‘historical impulse’ and ‘political purpose’ – and considers the importance of keeping these in balance. Why I Write is a unique opportunity to look into Orwell’s mind, and it grants the reader an entirely different vantage point from which to consider the rest of the great writer’s oeuvre. 'A writer who can – and must – be rediscovered with every age.' — Irish Times
