His un timely deatb on tbc 22d of 7anuary, 1898, and tbe long illness preceding bis lamented decease, made it impossible for bim to realize tbis plan fartber tban I, witb little time and still less experience in matters genealogical, bad been able under bis direction to carry it. Tberefore it is tbat tbc only 'dmerican brancb of tbe clan to appear in Mr. Macbenzie's History is tbat of William Munro, tbc first settler of tbe name in Lexington, Massacbusetts.
