Download Multiplicity Distributions in {bar P}p Interactions at √s Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Preliminary results on multiplicity distributions at √s = 1800 GeV in the? intervals {vert_bar}? {vert_bar} ≤ 2.5, 2.0, 1.5, 1.0, 0.5 are presented. The data were collected with a minimum bias trigger by the Collider Detector at Fermilab in two different runs. A small sample of data at √s = 630 GeV was used for comparison with lower energy results and for checking on systematic effects. The multiplicity distributions at √s = 1800 GeV deviate from the negative binomial distribution in rapidity intervals larger than {vert_bar}? {vert_bar} ≥ 0.5. This confirms the trend already observed at √s = 900 GeV where the deviation from the negative binomial starts at {vert_bar}? {vert_bar}> 2.5.

Download Distributions of Rapidity Intervals, Jet Ranges and Maximum Rapidity Gaps in Proton - Proton Interactions at 200-GeV/c Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The semiinclusive reaction p+p → n charged particles + anything was investigated with nuclear emulsions irradiated with 200 GeV/c protons at the NAL accelerator (Batavia, US). They measured angles [Theta] of all charged particles. In every event particles were ordered on rapidity which was approximated by the value y = -lntg [Theta]lab/2. In every event particles were numbered on increasing the rapidity. Let us consider, for example, distributions of ordered rapidities and distributions of differences of various ordered rapidities and try to make a physical conclusion from the analysis of these distributions.

From the Editors Preface: "Quark Matter 1987 was attended by about 250 scientists, representing 75 research institutions around the world - the scientific community engaged in experimental and theoretical studies of high energy nuclear collisions. The central theme of the meeting was the possibility of achieving extreme energy densities in extended systems of strongly interacting matter - with the ultimate aim of creating in the laboratory a deconfined state of matter, a state in which quarks and gluons attain the active degrees of freedom. High energy accelerator beams and cosmic radiation projectiles provide the experimental tools for this endeavour; on the theoretical side, it is intimately connected to recent developments in the non-perturbative study of quantum chromodynamics. Phase transitions between hadronic matter and quark-gluon plasma are of basic interest also for our understanding of the dynamics of the early universe ... A very special feature of this Sixth Quark Matter Conference was the advent of the first experimental results from dedicated accelerator studies. These were conducted during 1986/87 at the AGS of Brookhaven National Laboratory ... and at the CERN SPS ... An intense discussion of these data formed the main activity of the meeting.
