Extremely detailed guide books are available for walking and rock climbing in the Lake District, so detailed that it appears nothing has been overlooked and no inviolate places remain for the adventurer. Yet this is not quite the case. There is a very interesting area which is not really rock climbing yet involves the use of the hands on rock and is certainly far removed from normal walking. Scrambling is what this book is about. Scrambling as a sport is not new.
