This missing persons case hits incredibly close to home. Kat Harper fears the worst when her friend and neighbor Janice Moseley goes missing. Worse yet, Janice's beloved Irish setter Bubbles is found wandering the apartment corridor alone. All evidence points to foul play, and Kat takes it upon herself to investigate once again. It doesn't take long before the amateur detective discovers a few secrets Janice might have preferred to keep hidden. But did those secrets lead to Janice's disappearance? Or could her mysterious new boyfriend be responsible? Kat also can't discount the desperate singleton on the second floor and his obsession with the building's attractive dog owner. The stakes only intensify when a disturbing piece of evidence surfaces, driving home the fact that Janice didn't leave willingly. Kat still has more questions than answers, but she knows she needs to act fast. It's a race against the clock as the Cherry Hills sleuth works to identify the guilty party and bring her friend home before Janice falls victim to a fate much worse than kidnapping. TNR is a proven strategy for controlling the feral cat population—almost as effective as murder for eliminating unwanted neighbors. Kat Harper's friend and fellow animal rescue advocate Imogene Little has spent her entire life defending animal rights. So it's no surprise when their latest mission to neuter an undomesticated tom results in some harsh words exchanged between Imogene and a bitter homeowner named Lenora who doesn't believe feral cats are worth saving. The altercation would normally be a minor blip in their day, but things take a turn for the worse when Lenora winds up dead mere hours after the argument—and she didn't perish from natural causes. Much to Imogene's chagrin, the police identify her as a person of interest in their homicide case. But Imogene isn't the only one with motive. Between a euphoric elderly gentleman planning a celebration to commemorate his wretched neighbor's untimely demise, a young couple often targeted by Lenora over noise violations, and the victim's sister who is set to inherit everything, Kat doesn't have any trouble locating additional suspects. The question is, which one is the true murderer? With so many potential killers to consider, Kat is going to need all of her amateur detective skills to figure out "whodunit" this time. She just hopes she can clear her friend's name before Imogene's relationship with the Cherry Hills Police Department—and its unmarried chief—is destroyed forever. Astonishing images of vanished Denver, from old hotels and movie houses to streetcars to sports stadiumsThere has been much change in Denver since the first settlers built a small town on the south side of Cherry Creek and named it Auraria. Streetcar suburbs emerged and were annexed into the city of Denver; skyscrapers rose and were replaced by even bigger skyscrapers. The streetcars disappeared. Denver's baseball team, the Bears, played out of Broadway Park, then Bears Stadium, which became Mile High Stadium and then a parking lot for Sports Authority Field. The city has lost many of its grand Victorian buildings. The grand Richardsonian Romanesque Denver Club is gone, along with the Tabor Block and Tabor Opera House. The theater district on Curtis Street has been transformed, while the Denver Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) has targeted whole districts for wholesale change. Lost Denver looks at the many aspects of the city that have disappeared over the last 150 years—the old hotels and movie houses, the civic buildings no longer fit for purpose, the old bridges, cemeteries, and parks that have been changed out of all recognition, and the city districts that didn't fit in with the Skyline Renewal Project.

A Lost Lady is a novel by American author Willa Cather, first published in 1923. It centers on Marian Forrester, her husband Captain Daniel Forrester, and their lives in the small western town of Sweet Water, along the Transcontinental Railroad. However, it is mostly told from the perspective of a young man named Niel Herbert, as he observes the decline of both Marian and the West itself, as it shifts from a place of pioneering spirit to one of corporate exploitation. Exploring themes of social class, money, and the march of progress, A Lost Lady was praised for its vivid use of symbolism and setting, and is considered to be a major influence on the works of F. Scott Fitzgerald. It has been adapted to film twice, with a film adaptation being released in 1924, followed by a looser adaptation in 1934, starring Barbara Stanwyck. A Lost Lady begins in the small railroad town of Sweet Water, on the undeveloped Western plains. The most prominent family in the town is the Forresters, and Marian Forrester is known for her hospitality and kindness. The railroad executives frequently stop by her house and enjoy the food and comfort she offers while there on business. A young boy, Niel Herbert, frequently plays on the Forrester estate with his friend. One day, an older boy named Ivy Peters arrives, and shoots a woodpecker out of a tree. He then blinds the bird and laughs as it flies around helplessly. Niel pities the bird and tries to climb the tree to put it out of its misery, but while climbing he slips, and breaks his arm in the fall, as well as knocking himself unconscious. Ivy takes him to the Forrester house where Marian looks after him. When Niel wakes up, he's amazed by the nice house and how sweet Marian smells. He doesn't't see her much after that, but several years later he and his uncle, Judge Pommeroy, are invited to the Forrester house for dinner. There he meets Ellinger, who he will later learn is Mrs. Forrester's lover, and Constance, a young girl his age.
