Excerpt from Minutes of the Fifty-Eighth Annual Session of the Burnt Swamp Missionary Baptist Association, North Carolina, of the Cherokee Indians of Robeson County: Held With the Harper's Ferry Church, October 31-November 1, 1935 Article 1, The name of this Association shall be the Burnt Swamp Missionary Baptist Association of the Cherokee Indians of Robeson County. Art. 2. This Association shall be composed of members chosen by the various churches in our union and duly sent to represent them in the Association. Who shall be members? Whom they judge best qualified for that purpose, and producing letters from their respect ive churches certifying their appointment as delegates. Art. 3. The Association may act as an advisory council, but shall make no laws binding on the churches. Art. 4. The officers of the Association shall be a Moderator, Clerk, Treasurer and Executive Board.
