Download Interactions Between Adjuvants, Agrochemicals and Target Organisms Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
In recent years the importance of adjuvants for optimising the activity of agrochemicals has become increasingly recognized. This book is aimed at accumulating the current knowledge of the interactions between adjuvants, agrochemicals and target organisms. It provides results, and ideas for future research and defines new methodological, biomechanistic and systematic approaches which can be implemented to streamline research and development of formulations and adjuvant/active ingredient combinations. The book contains micrographs of leaf surfaces and spray deposits, graphical and statistical presentations, and data on the properties of adjuvants. In particular a case study is presented demonstrating the interactions possible between formulation and adjuvant types.

Download The Family Trichodoridae: Stubby Root and Virus Vector Nematodes Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
The family Trichodoridae was established by Thorne in 1935 but it remained of limited taxonomie interest until 1951 when Christie and Perry associated Trichodorus christie (now Paratrichodorus minor) with a "stubby root disease" that affected certain crops in Florida, USA and interest further increased from 1960 when P. pachydermus was implicated as a vector of the economically important tobacco raule virus. Such discoveries gave an impetus to studies on many aspects of the biology of trichodorid nematodes with a consequent proliferation of new species described from different parts of the world. The number of species increased from twelve in 1957 to a present day total exceeding eighty. This rapid expansion in the number of species was accompanied by several reappraisals of the taxonomy and systematies of the family, the most notable changes being the creation of the genus Paratrichodorus by Siddiqi in 1974 and the recognition of the monodelphic genera Monotrichodorus and Allotrichodorus respectively by Andrassy in 1976 and Rodriguez-M, Sher and Siddiqi in 1978. Reliable and unambiguous identification of taxa is dependent on the known reliability of a range of characters, whieh remains of paramount importance in taxonomy even when biochemical and molecular methodology is available. In this book each of the species, including synonyms and species inquirenda, that comprise the family Trichodoridae is re-described from meticulous mieroscopie examination of type specimens, material from official nematode collections and populations in the field.

Download Ecological Interactions And Biological Control Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Recent interest in nonchemical methods of pest control has brought renewed attention to the biological control of plant pests in the fields of entomology, plant pathology, and weed science. Ecological Interactions and Biological Control addresses issues of theory and practice common to all three fields. Focusing on systems rather than on individual

Download Pheromone Communication in Moths Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Common among moths is a mate-finding system in which females emit a pheromone that induces males to fly upwind along the pheromone plume. Since the chemical pheromone of the domesticated silk moth was identified in 1959, a steady increase in the number of moth species whose pheromone attractants have been identified now results in a rich base for review and synthesis. Pheromone Communication in Moths summarizes moth pheromone biology, covering the chemical structures used by the various lineages, signal production and perception, the genetic control of moth pheromone traits, interactions of pheromones with host-plant volatiles, pheromone dispersal and orientation, male pheromones and courtship, and the evolutionary forces that have likely shaped pheromone signals and their role in sexual selection. Also included are chapters on practical applications in the control and monitoring of pest species as well as case studies that address pheromone systems in a number of species and groups of closely allied species. Pheromone Communication in Moths is an invaluable resource for entomologists, chemical ecologists, pest-management scientists, and professionals who study pheromone communication and pest management.
