Download Exploring Calculus Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This text is meant to be a hands-on lab manual that can be used in class every day to guide the exploration of the theory and applications of differential and integral calculus. For the most part, labs can be used individually or in a sequence. Each lab consists of an explanation of material with integrated exercises. Some labs are split into multiple subsections and thus exercises are separated by those subsections. The exercise sections integrate problems, technology, Mathematica R visualization, and Mathematica CDFs that allow students to discover the theory and applications of differential and integral calculus in a meaningful and memorable way.

Download Exploring Linear Algebra Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
Exploring Linear Algebra: Labs and Projects with Mathematica® is a hands-on lab manual for daily use in the classroom. Each lab includes exercises, theorems, and problems that guide your students on an exploration of linear algebra. The exercises section integrates problems, technology, Mathematica® visualization, and Mathematica CDFs, enabling students to discover the theory and applications of linear algebra in a meaningful way. The theorems and problems section presents the theoretical aspects of linear algebra. Students are encouraged to discover the truth of each theorem and problem, to move toward proving (or disproving) each statement, and to present their results to their peers. Each chapter also contains a project set consisting of application-driven projects that emphasize the material in the chapter. Students can use these projects as the basis for further undergraduate research.

Download Kitchen Science Fractals: A Lab Manual For Fractal Geometry Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This book provides a collection of 44 simple computer and physical laboratory experiments, including some for an artist's studio and some for a kitchen, that illustrate the concepts of fractal geometry. In addition to standard topics — iterated function systems (IFS), fractal dimension computation, the Mandelbrot set — we explore data analysis by driven IFS, construction of four-dimensional fractals, basic multifractals, synchronization of chaotic processes, fractal finger paints, cooking fractals, videofeedback, and fractal networks of resistors and oscillators.

Download Government Laboratory Technology Transfer Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This title was first published in 2000: Due to budget cuts and competitiveness pressures, determining the outcome of technology transfer from government R&D laboratories to private industry and entrepreneurial start-ups is of increasing interest. This book presents a series of case studies of successful technology transfer by examining the same list of topics for each case. It presents a format for analyzing the cases, topic by topic - a methodology that could be used by any R&D laboratory. The book also goes one step further and compares the cases that took place prior to national technology transfer legislation with those cases that took place after passage of such legislation. An additional feature is the summary of existing attempts to measure and evaluate technology transfer. This follows a backgroudn section on the technology policy context. The analysis finds that there is a significant commercial impact from government laboratory transfer using this approach.

Download Applied Analog Electronics: A First Course In Electronics Book in PDF, ePub and Kindle
This textbook is for a first course on electronics. It assumes no prior electronics experience, but does assume that students have had calculus 1 (single-variable differential calculus) and high-school physics.A key idea of the course is that students need a lot of design experience and hands-on work, rather than a lot of theory. The course is centered around the labs, which are a mix of design labs and measurement/modeling labs. This unique volume takes students from knowing no electronics to being able to design and build amplifier and filter circuits for connecting sensors to microcontrollers within 20 weeks. Students design a digital thermometer, a blood-pressure meter, an optical pulse monitor, an EKG, an audio preamplifier, and a class-D power amplifier. They also learn how to measure and characterize components, including impedance spectroscopy of a loudspeaker and of electrochemical electrodes.Related Link(s)
