This book is the first part of the series, Longevity Mystery Solved, which covers Body Types, Western Systems that were previously discussed in my book, "Control for Life Extension. A Personalized Holistic Approach," first published in 2001. It aims at the understanding of your body and personality type, which allows you to apply the factual information in my books and others of this kind with better understanding. Knowing more about ourselves increases our consciousness and awareness, and can have a profound effect on our entire life. Regarding body and personality types related to longevity you will learn the following:1. Somatotypes. Excessively long-lived people (i.e., centenarians) usually belong to the endomorphic mesomorphs. If a person belongs to the endomorph type and is overweight, they would do better to undertake diet and exercise measures to transform their body into the mesomorph type. Extremely underweight ectomorphs need to gain weight by doing strength exercises and eating more carbohydrates.2. Personality Types. Type B behavior promotes longevity; therefore, Type A and Type C personalities must control their personality traits and move in the Type B direction.3. Instincts. The egophylum type, which represents the self-preservation instinct-careful, egocentric, suspicious, non-adventurous, and sober-minded, is often found among centenarians. The reproduction instinct is very strong in most centenarians; many of them had several children. The altruistic instinct promoted the longevity of many centenarians. The research instinct, driven by curiosity, is also a characteristic of many centenarians. The freedom instinct is quite strong among long-living people as well. The preservation of dignity, which is aligned with the freedom of thought and speech, definitely manifests itself in some centenarians.4. Temperaments. A phlegmatic temperament promotes longevity. Cheerful, inspiring, optimistic, and lively sanguine people are found among centenarians quite often. Aggressive, adventurous, repressive, and stubborn people of the choleric temperament tend to live less than the average life expectancy, although other qualities of this temperament-such as forcefulness, dominance, and self-confidence-are found to be factors that increase longevity. People with a melancholy temperament type and who are faithful and suspicious are some of the qualities of centenarians. However, because they are resentful and unforgiving, they harm their health and decrease their longevity.5. Blood Types. Among the many factors affecting longevity, blood type seems to be the most influential, which is why I used it as the dominant factor to determine the personalized diet. Many centenarians in Western countries have blood type O; blood type B is predominant in the Oriental countries namely China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, etc. People with blood type A have the lowest life expectancy and are vulnerable to cancer and heart diseases; therefore, they must follow a healthy diet and lifestyle. Compared to people with blood type A, type Os and type Bs have more chances to achieve longevity under similar conditions. In relation to coronavirus COVID-19 disease, blood type A and AB are at higher risk to die or encounter thromboembolic events such as respiratory failure, thrombosis, deep vein thrombosis, and Pulmonary Embolism (PE) due to elevated coagulability than blood type O and B.6. Metabolic Types. The metabolic-type approach helps us to better understand certain traits of long-living people, such as drinking and smoking. These habits are universally regarded as unhealthy, but they seem to do no harm to some centenarians. Good examples are world-longevity champion Jeanne Calment, of France, who lived to be 122 and American comedian George Burns, who lived to 100. Their habit of alcohol-drinking and smoking, increased their metabolic rate and were beneficial to their health.

Knowing your dosha type and applying the principles of Ayurveda enables you to become more health-conscious and to increase your chances of living a healthier and longer life.Yin-Yang Type. Yang-type people seem to burn themselves too fast, while Yin-type people can smolder longer until a ripe old age.Five Elements. Flexible joints and bones are associated with the strong Water element, which prolongs youth and longevity. Sarah Delany, 108, says that she has been a worrier and an optimist at the same time, which are signs that she has a strong Earth element in her.Chakra System. For a better understanding of the whole concept of this book, the chakra system is employed. Basic biological needs such as food, air, water, sleep, and sex, which bind us to the animal world and are associated with the lower chakras, can--if satisfied with restriction and moderation--result in many noticeable benefits for health and longevity. Gifts, talents, skills, interests, hobbies, intellectual activities, and spiritual devotion such as a belief in God, all of which are associated with the upper chakras, if employed in abundance, also promote longevity and physical and mental health.Western Horoscope. The majority of centenarians in both the United States and Japan were born in the winter or spring seasons. People born in other seasons can extend their lives by taking control of their diet and lifestyle.The amount of freedom that each person acquires in life is related to the degree of control that they managed to gain over different aspects of their life. The least freedom is observed in the lower chakras, or levels of consciousness. People such as unskilled manual workers, farmers, the military, policemen, and low-ranked company workers with limited knowledge, interests, and awareness--who are bored with their jobs and need entertainment in their lives (and without an "internal fire")--are examples of lower levels of consciousness. They are entirely dependent on food, water, air, and sleep to maintain their health. They need healthy food with a full range of macro- and micro-nutrients, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and so on. Most of the existing nutritional recommendations in developed countries are addressed to this category of people. The biothermonuclear reactors of their cells operate at low capacities, if not already shut down. They have minimal freedom and are fully dependent on imports from the outside everything that constitutes basic biological needs. Can they achieve a very old age? Yes, they can, if they were fortunate to inherit great genes from their parents. They did a good job in choosing their parents and can enjoy a long and disease-free life, even without special efforts to maintain their health--they have a large balance in their health account and just keep withdrawing from it.Another category could be the same people of these professions and occupations, but who love their work and everything they do, and who have interests, skills, and hobbies that keep them active, busy, and deeply involved. They differ from the previous category mostly by the absence of boredom. They worked very hard all their life, but do not feel exhausted or tired of living

This book is a revised and updated part (chapters 15 through18) of my book, Control for Life Extension. A Personalized Holistic Approach, first published in 2001 and reprinted in 2020. It focuses on nutrition and diets, particularly those of long-living people and centenarians that I study for the last thirty years.You will find a review and analysis of nutrition and diets discussed in an unconventional way which reflects a holistic view of this author. All macronutrients, protein, fats, and carbohydrates, are indispensable in a healthy diet but consumed in excess or of the wrong kind impose health threats. Excessive protein intake is linked to cancer and CVD. Contrary to the official health recommendations, meat protein in beef, pork, poultry, and seafood, marine and freshwater fish, and cheese was found to have a negative correlation with CVD mortality. The same negative correlation with CVD mortality was found for animal fat (lard, offal) and dairy fat but a positive correlation for sunflower oil rich in ω-6 that is abundant in other vegetable oils. High consumption of cereals and wheat, the most prevalent carbohydrate, but not rice, increase the risk of CVD.Caloric restriction or periodic fasting is a proven way to extend the duration of life. A lifelong intake of about 1,600 to 1,800 kcal for both men and women is the key that opens the gate to the longevity garden. Lower than this optimal calorie intake (non-eating people) or much higher (sumo wrestlers) shortens life span.Centenarians around the world, along with mostly plant-based foods, eat some meat, fish, and dairy products, which sustain them in disease-free, robust-health, and high-vitality condition for a century or more. An outstanding longevity food is sweet potatoes, a staple of Okinawan centenarians.Well documented cases of Christian mystics like Thérèse Neumann or Marthe Robin that have abstained from food for decades merit inquiry for a curious mind. My visit to China to meet a mysterious young woman, Xu Fang, who allegedly lived without food for 13 years (at that time) gave me a chance to witness an unexplained phenomenon of human potential. Among a handful of living now people who practice inedia or non-eating, she seems to be a real case worthy of scientific investigation.
