Logan abandons the Elves’ system of beliefs, following his father’s brutal slaying by Man. Logan’s loss fuels a destructive hunger for vengeance. Caught slaughtering Men wandering near the Elf city of Sungnaught, he is banished from the only place he has ever called home. Soon he meets a mysterious character, not indigenous to Klilax, who wears the necklace of the gods and bares troubling news – the citizens of Klilax are on the brink of eradication. Logan accepts an unfathomable mission to save his world and aligns himself with a misunderstood Dwarf, a deserted Ronx, and his only friend and love from home. Together they embark on an incredible journey, taking them from the Forest of Sungnaught to each race’s unique habitat and beyond. Filled with thieves, wizards, dragons and powerful ancient creatures, the journey will test the depths of Logan’s fortitude and lead him to a terrible secret that may send everyone to their peril. As the bonds of friendship strengthen, Logan continues to struggle with his greatest conflict; an inner struggle of good and evil. Will Logan be able to suppress his hatred and find the courage to fight for a land that pushed him to the edge of society, or do some wounds go too deep? Every decision Logan makes, could be his last.

Aesthetically seductive, yet socio politically charged; confrontational yet inviting, captivating and provocative are the artworks by Juan Logan. In a recent art journey, I came across his body of work at Logan Studios and became quickly intoxicated. Unlike encountering them in a museum space, an institution or a gallery; here I found myself entranced in a different type of aesthetic journey; one that would lead me to experience an understanding which I had not encountered before. Juan Logans body of work is fascinating; enchanting and challenging all at once, unapologetic and strong with hints of sarcasm and irony that serve to challenge the viewer into engaging with the heavy issues he addresses with every piece he produces.

The story of John A. Logan's famed 31st Regiment Illinois Volunteers, told by three veterans, follows the regiment from the battles of Belmont, Fort Donelson, Vicksburg, Kenesaw Mountain, and Atlanta through the March to the Sea and into North Carolina. "Few regiments," notes historian John Y. Simon in the foreword, "fought longer or more fiercely, suffered more casualties, or won more victories." Logan proved a valiant and valuable Union commander, yet when the Civil War first began, it was far from clear whether he would lead Union or Confederate troops. In dramatic fashion, however, he broke what Simon calls an "ominous silence ... interpreted by many as sympathy for the South." Speaking from a wagon platform in Marion, Illinois, Logan proclaimed: "[The] time has come when a man must be for or against his country." Logan accepted a commission from Illinois governor Richard Yates, recruited heavily in southern Illinois, and formed the 31st Regiment Illinois Volunteers. The 31st became a prime component in Grant's western campaigns, fighting for the first time at Belmont, Missouri. In February of 1862, the 31st foiled Confederate general Gideon J. Pillow's dramatic escape from the Union siege at Fort Donelson. Although this is often listed as one of the proudest moments for the 31st, casualties ran high (fifty-eight killed), with Logan so severely wounded that at first he was reported dead. Logan's valor at Fort Donelson won him promotion to brigadier general.

LOGAN (Steele Protectors 1) is the 1st book in USA Today and Amazon #1 Bestselling Author, Carole Mortimer’s, BRAND NEW Contemporary Romantic Suspense series. Author’s Note: Beware of the very sexy & very alpha Steele brothers. These books are HOT! LOGAN Steele is having a bad day. Well…after being shot, and almost dying, he’s having a bad month. Being forced to recuperate by manning the offices at Steele Protectors, the family security company, is not improving his already short temper. Which might be one explanation as to why Logan, after having a particularly difficult weekend, is so rude to the beautiful August Harvey when she is shown into his office one wet Monday afternoon. The other reason could be that Logan is just naturally rude and impatient. Nor is his mood improved by what August Harvey has to tell him. August had thought she was doing the right thing by coming to see one of the Steele brothers when her friend Jenna disappears. But after only two minutes in the company of Logan Steele, August is seriously rethinking that decision. Logan might be one of the most dangerous and handsome men she has ever seen, and hotter than hell, but he’s also arrogant, rude, and just all-round impossible. But there’s no denying that Jenna is missing, and the Steele brothers are the ones that need to find her. Being treated as if she might have had something to do with Jenna’s disappearances is the last thing August expected. Until it’s revealed that she does…
